My family usually stays onsite and loves the access of being in a monorail resort but this year we have to scale back our plans. I have a couple of questions to all of you that have stayed off site and at this hotel.

My wife and I are thinking of going to WDW in August for 6 nights/7 days and we're on a budget for this trip. I'm a long time reader of Mousesavers and have thought of staying at the Double Tree Suites because of the room and I can get a great deal. I've read the reviews from Trip advisor and it seems nice, but will we happy there? I know that it might sound to stupid to ask that but my family has been spoiled by staying at the Disney Deluxe resorts and I'm wondering if the Double Tree will be a huge let down?

I told my wife there is no way I can stay at a value resort because of the room size and my wife and I are large size people. The thought of sleeping in a cramped room without any space to spread out isn't a vacation to me. Plus it's cheaper for me to stay at the Double Tree for a week than a Disney Value resort due to the deal I'm getting.

So if you kind people could give me the Pro's and Con's of staying there, I would be gratefull. My family isn't theme park comando's and we don't use early entry, so that's not a big deal in chosing a resort. Plus we will driving this summer so we will have more transportation options than usual. Let me know what you think of this resort.

Thank you for all of your help. :thumbsup2

:coffee: :confused3 We are staying here in the fall too. Last trip we stayed at the Mariott for 20.03 a night--we were very happy for the deal we got. we have never stayed on site, our other trips we stayed at Westgate Lakes with family. We expect that the extra room will be very nice. and the location is great!! Hope to hear lots of reviews!!!! :coffee:

Hi Eddie
I dont have an answer about the Doubletree resorts but about a mile from the entrance to the Down Town Disney hotels are resorts called Cypress Pointe and Cypress Pointe Grande Villas, they have studios in August for $65 & $71 per night or a 2 bedroom condo for only $93.

You mention that your family is spoiled by deluxe resorts & Cypress Point may spoil them to wanting to stay in offsite condos. 99% of the people here on the Dis have loved their stay there. I'm throwing this out as maybe a thought, not sure what $$ your great deal is at the Doubletree but I'm guessing the rates are pretty close to what you can get at Cypress Pointe using hotelkingdom.com
in the 2 bedroom condo, Cypress Point in addition to a full kitchen, has a living room with a couch & 2 chairs, king size bed in the master + a LARGE walk in shower & a LARGE ensuite jacuzzi tub (plenty of room to stretch out in for pooh sized people like me)
I know what its like being a larger person feeling cramped in hotels, so I wanted to throw the possibility of Cypress Pointe out there as my guy friend & I + my daughter never felt cramped at Cypress Pointe.

If you scroll through to find my thread, I asked this same question for this August, based on the Mousesavers deal at Doubletree.

Response was overwhelming to go to CP or CPGV. You might want to read what everyone told me! HTH!

My dh and I stayed at Double Tree Suites on our honeymoon. We absolutely loved it. The rooms were trememdous. You had a dining area with a microwave, a living room with a tv, a bedroom with a tv and a bathroom with a tv. Plenty of tvs to go around. You really don't loose the disney experience by staying in an outside hotel. If I were too stay outside again I would definately choose the double tree.
