Will I be disappointed?

As I mentioned in a previous post I have never done a disney trip. I am a very poor student midwife breaking the bank to take my daughter for a surprise trip to DLP (6th birthday).

I was excitedly telling the girls on my course about it - to which one said "eeeuuugghh!! Eurodisney - don't like Paris - its dirty! I hated it when I went...... there's nothing there. There's hardly any rides....there won't be anything for Katie (my daughter) to do!"

She was so abrupt and matter of fact that she's got me really worried. I'd like to think its a jealousy thing cos we're all so poor but this girl just isn't like that. Am I going to regret scrimping and saving to take my baby for a bit of magic before she's too grown up to believe it's all real? I won't be able to afford Florida until she's at least 10.

Before I had gotten married (6 years ago now), I had never gone to any Disney parks in my life. Now, my husband and I have visited 3 different parks (Paris, California and Florida). We have been to Florida many, many times now. Don't listen to what other people say about Disney (especially if it's bad). It's their own opinion. If you and your daughter enjoy Disney, then go for it. Just keep in mind of 2 things: #1) Is your daughter is old enough to recognize Disney characters (ie. Princesses, Mickey, etc)? If not, then you may want to wait until she is older. and #2) Do you have enough money saved for this trip, for food AND souvenirs? It can get very costly!

There are plenty of rides for younger kids (Casey's Train Ride, Snow White Ride, Pinocchio Ride, Storybook Land, the Carousel). My husband and I even rode on a few! We really enjoyed our time there. There is alot of walking, so you may want to consider renting a carriage or something.

If you do go, enjoy spending time with your daughter on her birthday. That's more important. It's her special day, so take lots of pictures and she will cherish them as she grows older. Disney is enjoyed by all age groups.

With all due respect to this person - they are talking rubbish!! It isn't dirty, and there is loads to do. I would be very, very, very surprised if you, and particularly, your daughter are disappointed.

DIRTY OMG !!! no way have you seen the average british seaside/theme park /holiday camp! in fact when i come back from DLP everything here seems dull and dirty.As for things to do well it was our 4th trip in july with my daughter and we have been when she was 4,5,7 and 9 and we still have not done everything ,you will have wonderful time Disney is Magic so dont worry

It’s a wonderful experience and you and your daughter will love it.
This will be a sweet memory for the rest of her life.

hiya i've not been too dlp but i have been to france and i thought it was dirty but thats my opinion but my wee bro worked there for many years (he was goofy )and he always said its a great place loads to do but i always said i would do wdw first then try the rest.
i hope you and ur daughter have a great time, its what you make out of it. not what others say..

We went for the first time last year, thought it was great. Went again this summer, still great! Our younger daughter now aged 3 found it much better than the first time. She's still going on about it, so your daughter I am sure will love it.

I did wonder why Main Street was wet first thing every morning. Now I realise they wash it every night, so I wouldn't really class it as dirty!

Maybe your friend wasn`t very well informed about all the things to do at DLP . I once met someone who hadn`t read anything about the parks and missed out a lot.
And since Disney created the parks so that adults and children could have fun together there are so many attractions you will both enjoy. And dirty? Except for the BTMRR queue area during peak season the Disney parks are way cleaner than any others.
Don`t be unsure I think you made the right choice, your daughter and you will have a very special trip.. my parents and me often remember our first WDW trip when I was 10 years old and that first Disney experience was a very special time for all of us so go for it!

I have been to Disneyland in California, Walt Disney World (hundreds of visits) and Disneyland Paris. I'm not a rose-colored-glasses person who only says 'nice' things about Disney. However, I can tell you without hesitation that Disneyland Paris is my favourite of the three 'Magic Kingdom' parks (it is most like Disney's Magic Kingdom in the States).

It is a beautiful park, very clean, with some of the best theming both inside and outside the attractions. There will certainly be a full day (or even two) worth of attractions for a 6 year old to enjoy.

There will always be people who don't like something, or choose to bad-mouth it for their own reasons. Don't let that one person be the deciding factor in your plans. Disney aren't known for being the best Family Holiday for no reason.

Enjoy! It's a wonderful park with children and I hope you make some truly magical memories.

DLP dirty heck no. I had my reservations as I am an Orlando nut and still am. The DLP park is kept clean. It puts the parks like Thorpe Park, Chessington to shame hands down. There are many people picking up litter. My ds kept ripping up the park map before I could pick it up someone was there picking it up. The toilets are fine, but in peak season they were a little smelly, but what do you expect a full park and many people using the loos it will start to smell a little. Again even those put most of our loos in this country to shame. Take chatham high street loos I would not use them I would be too afraid to use them in case I caught something.

I would say either she was jelous, or had a bad day when she went. Honestly I am fussy when it comes to hygiene especially being a nurse I am very particular with germs etc. Dont worry you will have a fab time.

Oh when did she go? There are many rides that both of you can do. Perhaps not in studios, but definately in MK.

I took my DD last year when she was 41/2 years old. She had a fantastic time. There are loads of rides to do, Its a Small World, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Mad Hatters Tea Cups, Pinocchio, Snow White, Phantom Manor, Pirates of the Caribbean........I could go on and on and on!

My DD would also have sat and watched the parades all day every day.

She is now counting down for the trip we have planned at the beginning of December and she is already so excited and can't wait to go back.

I am sure that if you go you will have a fantastic time

That wasn't a nice thing to say to you after you've saved so much for this trip. I'm sure your daughter will LOVE it. We took our DD last year and liked it so much we are going back for her 4th birthday this year.

You will both have a BALL .It is a magical place and your daughter is a perfect age to enjoy it.

I agree with an other poster in the fact that they maybe didn't know what there was on offer at the park, and based their opinions on a short trip on a possibly cold day. Weather and crowd numbers can make a difference to enjoyment levels for people.

I believe that the parks are what you make it and I'm sure you and your daughter will have a great time. There are people (although I don't understand it) who don't like Disney, it's just the way life is!

There are things maybe she likes and you don't, we are all different!

Why not get the new brochure and watch the accompanying dvd ? Added to the comments here it should reassure you about the "hardly any rides" rubbish.

Oh, and did you see the results of the european resort awards for last year ? DLRP won four categories outright

Have you looked at the character meals ? They really are well worth the money to make the day that extra bit special, and the personal interaction with the characters is so much fun. I think the least expensive would be the Plaza Gardens Tea Party or Birthday Party, most expensive would be Inventions dinner, but there are other lunch, dinner options at other restaurants in between.

and the park's not at all dirty, I've got several hours of footage of the ground at DLP from when I forgot to turn off the camcorder whilst dangling it from my wrist and the one thing I notice on the film is the lack of litter and how clean the pavments look.

I think your daughter will have a wonderful time, my daughters loves DLP and we have been several times and she is still not bored of it.

Does your daughter enjoy theme parks in this country? If so, then she will love DLP!! It's just so much more themed and detailed than places like Alton Towers or Chessington, and with a much better choice of rides for someone of her age.

Maybe your friend did have a bad time there, but I would say it is very unusual for somebody to hate everything about DLP. I honestly think some people just think it's cooler to say they don't like something - particularly when it comes to Disney.

Anyway, as somebody said, it wasn't a nice thing to say to you when you've saved for this special trip. But please be reassured by all the comments on this thread - DLP is a wonderful place.

Ugh.. I hate when people try and put others off places like that (unless something truly awful happened) DLP is not dirty at all and there's plenty to do. OK so it's not Florida but I don't think it tries to be.. DLP is a short break destination and Florida could easily fill up 2 weeks but as long as people keep this in mine I think it's perfectly possible to enjoy both parks. I've been to DLP several times and definitely plan on going back.. As 2 adults we did manage to do everything we wanted in a 3 night stay but we didn't rush, had sit-down dinners, browsed a lot and generally had a lovely time
