Will I be disappointed with a moderate?

In the past, our family has stayed at a few of the deluxe Disney resorts. We liked WL, loved AKL, loved the BC and spent a few nights at the Swan which was fine, but not like deluxe Disney resorts.

In September we rented points from a DVC member for a 2br at the BWV. However, the weekends are double the price. I am considering a moderate disney hotel for the first Friday and Saturday night. After only having stayed at the deluxes, will we be disappointed with any of the moderates, and which would you suggest?

There are six in our family (4 kids...ages 3,6,9,12). So, we would need two connecting rooms. If this matters. Thanks for your help.

I think you will enjoy the moderates if you are prepared for the differences - outside corridors, no balconies, no fancy restaurants. The rooms are not much smaller than WL or AKL. I would recommend POR in the mansion section if you want a resort with a restaurant or POFQ if you don't mind a food court only, and you can still use the restaurant at POR. POFQ has just been refurbished and has a wonderful atmosphere; I was planning to stay there until I got the great summer rate for AKL and DS has his heart set on CBR so we will be doing 3 nights each at those.

I had always stayed at deluxes with my parents but then DH and I stayed at CBR last summer and I loved it. I think the above poster was right - just be prepared for the differences. I think it's extremely easy to move between the deluxe and moderate level - especially if it's only for a few days and then off to BWV!
