I have an executive suite booked at the Dolphin for $340+tax. I'm getting a great suite for a good bargain. Even so, it's running almost $800 for two nights. Since we are planning to go to Sea World for one of the dates, I'm considering cancelling the suite and saving a bundle of money by trying the Renaissance thru Priceline. $280 vs. $800 should be a no-brainer but I am having such trouble being at peace with this.

How do these two hotels compare? Will I be let down by just getting two rooms at the Renaissance?

I have not stayed at the Renaissance but am dying to just based on the reviews I've heard! I stayed at the Renaissance at the airport several times and they share some employees. The employees I spoke to just LOVED it.

I HAVE stayed in an exec suite at the Dolphin. WOW! We had the one with the two extra bedrooms. More room than you'll ever need! If you're doing Disney this is the choice!

Priceline is not guaranteed, though you can use the clues at www.biddingfortravel.com to make sure you get what you want when you want it. I was offered the Renaissance by the Marriott Grand Vista with the timeshare presentation, which I understand is very low key. Four days, three nights for $199. If you want to know more, PM me.

I am not doing Disney for the 2 nights we are staying there. The first is arrival day and the next is the day we are going to SWorld.

I want to keep the Dolphin but I keep thinking of all of the stuff we could do or buy with what we would save. :bounce:

Here is a review of the Renaissance Orlando SeaWorld http://www.orlandotripplanner.com/archive/newsletter5.html#review .
I have steyed there myself and it was very nice. It is a deluxe resort and everybit as nice as the Swan/Dolphin (not a suite but then again think of the money you are saving) . You can literally WALK across the street to SeaWorld. I would definately stay there for location since you are not "doing disney". Priceline just for the hotel does not let you "pick" your resort, but if you are bidding on airfare plus hotel then you can pick your resort (but not the departure times for your flights).

We just got back from the Renaissance in January. My kids loved it. They have a nice basketball court, pool area, and a ping pong table outside. (And everything is close! Their breakfast and Sunday brunch is absolutely fabulous! My kids didn't want to leave! (Except, of course, when we told them we would be going to the Grande Vista.)

By comparison, we have stayed at:

Disney's Boardwalk Villas (one bedroom villa), the Beach Club, the Yacht Club, the Grand Floridian, the Wilderness Lodge Villas (one bedroom villa), the Polynesian.

Universal Portofino Hotel.

Marriott Grande Vista (two and three bedroom villas)

The rooms themselves are ordinary hotel rooms.

But to give me a better clue as to what you would like... what are you looking for? Space? Amenities? My days of paying full prices for rooms at Disney are long over.

Hope this helps...

Katherine

We have stayed at the Renaissance Resort three times and are returning again in August. You will be very happy with it. I took a chance and booked through Priceline and was successful . My bid was $70 per night, versus the $150 Entertainment rate I already had. If you want to try Piceline, then choose "Resort" Universal /
Sea World area.

I canceled the suite. We initially were not planning to do any parks the first two days. I wanted to stay at the Dolphin so much! The pictures are so pretty!

The rational side of me won the argument - saving $600 is more important! Since I saved so much by staying offsite, I booked the Dine w/Shamu dinner! How much are those stuffed Shamus because I'll probably have to buy four - one for each kiddo!:D

Just bumping this up so the person who asked about the Renaissance could get a review....
