Will I be able to return wrapping paper?

I got some from Walmart today 1/2 off on clearance and it doesn't match my ornaments. I have the receipt and I just hope it's not final sale!

I don't think that clearance is considered final sale at Wal-mart especially with a receipt.

However, I am intriqued by why your paper needs to perfectly match your ornaments. lol

I'm pretty sure you can return it...I don't think Walmart has 'final sale' items, even on seasonal merchandise.

...And I totally get what you're saying about it not matching your ornaments. I only buy coordinating paper.

I work at a Hallmark - this is a return I haven't seen yet.

At Hallmark, with a receipt you can return it, no problem. Without a receipt, you will get the most recent sale price and store credit only.

Maybe you could just use it for gifts you give to friends or extended family … that won't be under your tree?

Personally it would probably cost me more in gas to take it back to Walmart than the value of the return, plus I'm really lazy. But I think WalMart is pretty much used to seeing people return nearly everything so they'd probably take it back from you.

My husband worked at Target for a brief time and people would return EVERYTHING--- from a bag of M&Ms (she bought one and then received one as a gift. Really? Who can't eat two bags?!?) to a "broken" pregnancy test.

I have mainly matching ornaments. I have a couple from childhood, but when I got my first tree when living out of home (which was a while after I had moved out), all the ornaments I got matched (silver and blue). I live in a small place and, therefore, have a small tree (and not that many ornaments). If I move to a bigger place (and a bigger tree), I'm not going to worry about my new ornaments matching.

Never thought to get wrapping paper to match them though.

Well, that's your opinion on how trees should look. My opinion is different. I like my Christmas tree to blend with the rest of the décor in my home and not be a hodgepodge of ornaments/colors. I've never been fond of colored lights on trees or collected ornaments...but that's okay. When we buy our next house I can picture myself putting up two trees: The main tree with coordinating ornaments in the main living area, and a more casual tree in the basement family room or somewhere like that which has "memory" type ornaments. We literally only have one or two ornaments like that, though.

It is very common in my area. We feel like we are the oddballs because I prefer a tree that is a mix up of old and new mementos with meaning and lots of Disney or character ornaments, instead of a color coordinated perfectly designed tree. I also like colored lights on trees and find all white lights boring for my own tree. Most people I know have trees that have all white pre-lit lights, all matching/coordinating ornaments, ribbon/tinsel that goes straight down in strips from the top and matches the ornaments. You can't buy a person around here a Christmas ornament as a present because chances are it will not go with their perfectly designed tree. I know people that chunk all their ornaments and ribbon/tinsel every few years because they are no longer the "in style" color or because they have decided they are tired of it and want a different color scheme. Heck I know people that have gotten new furniture for their living room and then felt the need to get rid of all their ornaments/ribbon/tinsel and start over because they did not coordinate with the new couch. I had not heard of the wrapping paper having to coordinate with the ornaments, but I would bet if you mentioned that around here it would be all the rage if it wasn't already!

People that only care about what the tree looks like to others, not the memories behind all those precious ornaments.

While I do prefer wrapping paper with red in it, I usually by Mickey or some sort of Disney paper,

I guess my tree has coordinating ornaments - Last year I finally had enough to have an all Disney tree!

I definitely have coordinating ornaments and my wrapping has to match. We do have ornaments that do not match, most of these were made by my children as they were growing up. We put all of these on the tree along with a few we've collected over the years as gifts or on vacation but all of others are coordinated. We love the look. If I have paper that doesn't match (as in gifts received from others) put them them at the back of the tree, LOL. I search the stores for "my colors". Even my daughter knows "my colors". That's just me!

If it isn't open or used, I don't see why they wouldn't accept the return. And now that I understand why they need to match (it makes sense to me, since some people like to showcase their tree a specific way), I am still left with a question. Isn't wrapping paper color and scheme pretty much obvious when you purchase it? I mean, you know what colors your ornaments are, and you can SEE the wrapping paper in the store. Were they just off by a shade or two or something? Just wondering.

Your wrapping paper matches your ornaments? That's all I got out of OP's posts lol. I guarantee you no one walks in your house and goes ooh, the ornaments and paper match. I tend to stay in the red family for wrapping paper, but it's because I like it. My ornaments are a mish-mash of glass, White House, crystal, some my kids made, etc. Most of them have meaning to me and aren't just there to look "perfect".

I wouldn't return wrapping paper, but that's because I rarely return anything unless it's broken. If I bought it, I keep it. So, I guess this means OP doesn't carry a swatch around so she can match everything.
