Will I be able to return wrapping paper?

Although I don't do it myself, I've seen lovely trees where the paper and decorations all coordinate. I don't get why some people think if it isn't the way you do it, it must be BAD.:rolleyes2

OP, I think you'll be able to return it fine. If not, there are lots of organizations that accept donated wrap.

All of my ornaments are Disney, so we have a Disney themed tree. I'm lucky to get the gifts wrapped before Christmas, so it doesn't matter so much if the wrapping paper matches. I wrapped them on Christmas Eve this year.

People that only care about what the tree looks like to others, not the memories behind all those precious ornaments.

Or maybe they like the way their tree looks. And whose to say their ornaments don't have precious memories attached to them just because they happen to choose a specific color?

What a witchy thing to say.

Unnecessary and unkind. What was the point of that? :confused3

I have a mish mash of ornaments and yet my tree tends to have a very vintage look. The free Olaf paper I got with a a promotion at Hallmark did not fit well. I left it but it did bug me, I like a pretty tree. No harm in that IMO. You can have both: memories and a nice looking tree. I can see me buying paper thinking it was my style then getting it home and realizing, eh, not so much. I'd probably keep it to wrap other stuff rather then bothering to return it but I don't see why you couldn't.

Use your non-matching paper for gifts that'll be mailed away, given to teachers, or packed up in a big bag to take to your MIL's house.

Wow, judge much? My tree has a lot of MATCHING color ornaments hand made by my mother in law and some not so matching by my kids and they all mean a lot to our entire family. Unfortunately the wrapping paper looked red in the store and was way too pink to look good under my tree. And maybe I'm silly but we host a large family gathering and I like the paper to coordinate with my tree. Who is to say that trees are a hodge podge of colors - to each his own!

My question is - who has only matching ornaments? I have never seen that. My ornaments are a collection of momentos from over the years...and pre-birth. Nothing matches...which is how trees are supposed to be - a big mish-mash of colors!

:thumbsup2

I do! We have four themed trees -- Moroccan, woodland critters, fish, and butterflies. We only have two ornaments that don't fit into one of those themes, a Mickey and a snowman. (Well, except for the boxes and boxes of White House ornaments from my grandmother that we don't display.) The two oddball ornaments just get hung somewhere in the house, not on a tree. If we ever ended up with enough memento/memory ornaments to fill a tree we'd start setting up a "family" tree for them. In the meantime, if it doesn't fit the theme and color scheme it doesn't go on it. :thumbsup2

My question is who has only one Mickey ornament!!!! ;)

We sometimes get gifts in the mail that come before Christmas, and we leave them under the tree to be opened on Christmas Day. If that happens to you, what do you do? Would you open it and re-wrap it in matching paper for Christmas Day?

:thumbsup2 great point
I have my grown kids presents to us under my tree- a big mish mash of colors....:)

Certainly not me. We have been going to Disney for over 25 years and on Disney cruises for 7. Our tree is filled with well over 300 Disney ornaments of all shapes and colors - and Fantastic Disney Memories.

I think it's equally unnecessary and unkind to imply that unless the paper matches the ornaments, then the tree isn't pretty.

We have two trees; one is all Hallmark and Disney ornaments, and the other is all balls of all colors and ornaments that the kids made as kids, as well as some that DH and I made as kids. Multi-color lights and a mish mash of colors and ornaments on both trees. Nothing matches, and to us, *that's* pretty.

I'm impressed by the people who wrap their presents enough in advance that they actually sit under the tree. I tend to wrap on an "as needed" basis - the presents get wrapped and then taken to wherever they go. DH's presents, I usually wrap Christmas Eve, so they are under the tree for maybe 12 hours.

I wasn't trying to imply anything. The only implication was that Olaf paper with my somewhat vintage tree ( also covered with my kids handmade ornaments) wasn't pretty *to me." I was trying to provide an example of why someone might want "matching" paper and that there was nothing wrong with that. Nowhere did I say a range of colors or tastes was a bad thing.

However, I am intriqued by why your paper needs to perfectly match your ornaments. lol

My question is why the OP would buy the wrapping paper in the first place. Did they not know what their ornaments looked like?

Putting aside wrapping paper/ornaments haven't you ever picked something up thinking it would go well with your decor then got it home and realized that it didn't? Not because you don't know what your home looks like but because it looks like it would fit in with what you have going on. In the store it works but then you get home and for whatever reason it just doesn't. I would think this is somewhat the same kind of thing.

I am just shocked that this is a "thing". Coordinating your wrapping paper to your ornaments. Huh. I literally can't imagine being concerned about that. To each their own.

I agree with a number of posters here:

-Didn't you see the paper you were buying?
-You may spend more in gas than the 2.00 you'll get back.
-Can't you use it for other people's gifts?
-Maybe gift it to a relative or coworker who doesn't care, but loves free stuff.

I love a lime and red tree, but honestly, I wouldn't mind the blue snowman paper wrapped gift under it.

How about this.... do you not have another tree you could theme up with? Some people have several trees strewn about their home. Maybe...... nah.
