Will HI sailing go fast??

I loved the sea days. They were so relaxing. I would be willing to do a multiple week cruise that went in a big circle

The sea days are more of a draw to me than Hawaii is, if I am being honest. Nine days to relax and enjoy the ship? Awesome!

Sadly though, I can't take my girl out of school that long. Would probably be right around SOLs, and they won't like that so much. :)

I'm frightened to see the prices.

The school year issue doesn't apply to us. A perk of being a homeschooler is being in control of our own schedule.

I am most likely going to Hawaii in 2012, but it will not be with DCL. 9 days at sea are just way too many for me! I'm going to look into some tours. I also have a coworker who is sailing Hawaii with NCL as we speak, and I'm going to see what she has to say about that. If it's not too bad, I may go with NCL

Sayhello

I haven't looked at Hawaiian itineraries on other lines but the DCL stop in Kauai is very short (7:30 am - noon) and Hilo isn't much better. Honolulu and Ensenada don't do much for me so, as much as I wanted DCL to sail to Hawaii, this cruise seems like a bust. :bored:

BlackFrank - You are absolutely right! If we can swing the cost; we are going. Thank you for helping us make up our minds :yay: :yay:

Well I emailed my TA to book the HI sailing as well as a June 2012 Alaska sailing. Since the kids would not be going on the HI cruise, the sea days do not bother me. I love being out on the water and it makes me feel closer to Dh since he also loved being on and in the water. This would be a huge step for me, going somewhere by myself and focusing on nothing but relaxation!! I like this itinerary because I would feel comfortable getting off at any of the HI ports on my own. I would not get off in Ensenada though. Of course I have to ask my IL's if they would watch the kids but I am sure they will say yes.

I can already tell you there is a great group of people booking this cruise and a really nice collection of single women...so there will be lots of 'playmates' if you want them! :thumbsup2

Starting $1800pp for 11c

Which is a great rate if you can get in on first tier. $900 for a 7 (and a half?) day cruise is a 'cheap' DCL rate. I wish they would have told us the initial pricing for Oceanview and Verandah, so that I don't have to waste a CM's time tomorrow checking on verandahs that may be out of my comfort zone to start with.

In regards to hawaii going fast: i have a dummy date booked with dreams unlimited so does that mean i have to wait for thier quote and they move the sailing for me? I cant' call disney and have them do it since i have a ta correct???? just making sure...thanks!

Yes, your TA will have to take care of this for you. Send off an e-mail with instructions on what you may want/price range. I assume you are not gold or platinum CC member, so they will be able to take care of this starting on Friday.

I find it funny that Disney is so "family" friendly yet all their really great cruises are when the kids are in school. We did the wb repo via the Panama Canal because we were home schooling and it seemed that all the kids on board were also home schooled. The cruise had far, far fewer kids on board for obvious reasons. My wife is at the school now talking with the kids teacher getting input about what the kids would typically miss during the first two weeks of May. That will be after the national tests. If possible we will change 2012 reservation on the Fantasy for the Hawaii trip.

Same here! I homeschool my two so taking the time off isn't a problem but I'm scared to see what the prices will look like for a family of four! But I would LOVE to go back to Hawaii and take the kids this time, they'll never wanna come home.:lmao:

my kids aren't home schooled and we did the PC repo as well...(although they hadn't started school)....I have no issues taking my kids out of school, nor finding things to do on sea days for all of us.

The girls (11 year old twins) decided that they wanted to go to public school a couple years ago so that threw a crimp into our planning.

They had no problems staying busy on the last 15 day cruise and got very excited when I mentioned that the Wonder was headed for Hawaii. My sister and her husband have lived on Kauai for the last 25 years. The girls would love to see their cousins.

We love days at sea and it usually takes a week just to slow down and start to relax.

When we cruise with Disney I always just figure on $1,000 a day for a room with a veranda. If it's cheaper, bonus.

Sideways Cat 11's all gone. "Secret" Navigators gone. Forgot to check about the "secret" porthole rooms on deck 5, but I know a couple of them are booked.

Now...some of these may actually be on HOLD and could be released in a day or two.

I'm starting to stress about the fact that my TA cannot book for me until tomorrow. I have to have a verandah for this trip though. I'm scared of what the price will be for a single occupancy!

thanks for the updates really want an 11c or 11b....waiting until tommorow for ta.......:rolleyes1

I'm debating booking the HI cruise and going without the kids since I won't take them out of school for 2 weeks. I will either go alone or maybe even treat a gf to go with me if she can swing leaving her Dh/parents to take care of her 3 kids. This would be my first trip away from my 3 kids since Dh died in Oct 2008. I'm just wondering if this is something I will need to book ASAP.

:thumbsup2 I think you should SO do it! I can't even begin to know what you've been through having your dh pass away, but CAN tell you how refreshing and good for you it is to get away. For you. To breathe in and breathe out!
My dh used to let me every year take a group of ladies on a weekender just to be refreshed and come back renewed!! He still lets me, it's just with this stage of life, not many of them can do it anymore!
Your kids will love the 'grandma/grandad' time, and you'll come back 'ready to take on the world'...well, maybe not the world, but the kids anyway!:goodvibes

I don't have a clue on any of the pricing, but BOOK IT!!!!;)
