DH and I are discussing booking a trip in late September/early October to take advantage of FD which ends on September 29, 2011. I know as long as I book by the last day of the promo I will get FD for our entire stay and next to going in Nov/Dec, it is my second choice time to visit WDW because of MNSSHP and F&W Festival and low crowds.

My big concern is just how hot will it be and is it still so humid?

Anyone who has gone this time before, would you go again during the same time of year?

TIA

We went 9/11 - 9/18 last year and the weather was brutally hot & humid. Low to mid 90's every day and 80-90% humidity at least.

The reason I would go back was that the crowds were very low. We left right before the F&W Festival so I can't speak on the affect that has on crowds, though. I do know it's advisable to hit the F&W during the week as the locals come out for it on the weekends.

We went September 29-October 5 this year and the weather, while hot temperature-wise, was pretty much perfect.

Temps were high-80s/low-90s every day we were there, but instead of the usual Orlando mug there was a very nice breeze blowing through that made the days very pleasant (this coming from a cold-loving Canadian).

It was just about the perfect time of the year to go and hitting the early MNSSHP with walk-on rides and next to no crowds made it even better. If not for the fact that we want to hit the MVMCP next trip, we'd be back again for late-Sept/early-Oct. :thumbsup2

The temperature and humidity this year during that time period was much better than the year before.

You can not know in advance.

DH hates the heat and humidity and we have visited during some pretty hot times, late April, late May, August. Funny thing is we went one year beginning of October but neither of us can recall whether it was terrible hot or pleasant and now that I am older my asthma is worse during the heat and humidity. We want to go during the Christmas Festivities next year but because we had to cancel our planned trip this November we are anxious to go and thought we might change plans and go earlier next year instead.

A nice breeze makes all the difference in the world when it is hot :goodvibes

It's impossible to know for sure based on this year or last year, etc., but I wouldn't have a problem going then at all. The only time I wouldn't want to go is in July and August.

But...I'm a Florida native, so may be more accustomed to the heat and humidity than some of our northern neighbors. :cool1:

We were there this year 9/23-9/30 and it was perfect! One day was pretty hot but we're from Oklahoma so we were used to the heat since our weather this year has been hot! The crowds were great - none! Some rides were busy but not unmanageable. The resaurants were not overly crowded either. I would go again at this time of the year in a heartbeat. In fact, I think I will go book my next trip right now!:lmao:

Sounds great, plus it is value season until the end of September and with FD thrown in I truely think we are maybe going to change our plans.

We've gone the past two years in September & love it. It is hot & humid but not unbearable.

Thanks for the replys, we decided to book for the end of October 23-29

Be prepared -- that timeframe can be really, really hot and humid.

I went that time last year -- we had record-high temps (90 to 95 degrees with awful humidity) the first seven days of the trip, then record low temps the last few days of the trip! Weird, huh? (Plus it's hurricane season, so you often have rain.)

I like that time of year because of the Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP. But the trade-off is the weather - it can be just awful.

This August will be our 3 rd time down there that time of year (we have also been down early Oct and over halloween) and everytime we went it has been in the 90's or above...that being said the lower crowds make it not so bad,we barely wait in lines, most rides have indoor ques or awnings that help shade you and bringing those fan mister bottles are a life saver. It will be hot but totally doable and if you stay on site you can always slip back to the resort for a break druring the hottest part of the day for a break. And gives you a great excuse to get a dole whip to cool down :)

Last week we decided to change our dates and lock in the FD , I figure the weather so unpredictable in florida might as well go for the FD and save some money if it is too hot/humid we will just tour early in the and late afternoon or evening spending time at the resort during the hottest hours of the day.

Plus we want to be there for Oct 1st the 40th Anniversary this year. Going Sept 29-Oct 5

In my experience, it's been very hot and humid in the September/October timeframe. I've gone six times during that timeframe, and only once was it what I would deem "pleasant" weather (and the only reason it wasn't hot and humid was because a hurricane had just blown through!). Went mid-October 2009, and we had record-high heat (90+ most days, with high humidity). I told myself I would rather wait until November next trip, to try for better weather.

Realize that it will likely be very hot and humid, and base your decision on that. The trade-offs are low crowds, F&W Festival, and MNSSHP (and sometimes free dining).

I was there this last September. From September 23-28th. I thought it was warm but I also felt I was able to cool off inside attractions. It is great to go back to the pool and cool off too.

I noticed it really humid after a nice rain shower but that is to be expected. I really did think the weather was perfect. And because the lines were reasonable so that was the best perk of all. Then it was a short line to get into to a place with air conditioning when I did feel it was warm.

Have a great trip I would go this time of year again for sure! :thumbsup2

I have talked to many persons who work at Disney and most of them recommend mid to late October for a trip. The crowds are manageable and they had said the temps usually have changed and are more comfortable.
