 Unfortunately, I think the answer is no. But what will his theory finally cost the American people? Should we start to hold politicians accountable?

Well, first it's not his theory, it's the scientific communities.

Anyway, even if it's all bunk, the net result will still be far better for us. Cleaner air, cleaner water, less dependence on foreign oil (which is good for our economy AND national security) and a brand new "green" industry will spring up, creating jobs and economic growth.

What's not to like?

If it's market driven to become green - great. But as soon as the gov't imposes programs based on a lie - then that's an issue. Plus what about all the people who are buying carbon credits based on a lie. Is it fraud?

This is the thing that just mystifies me. I don't care if the theory ends up being wrong or not. The recommended solutions are going to HELP us whether the theory is correct or not!

Amen.

Oh please, if you read as many scientific articles as the number of Rush Limbaugh shows you've listened to, you couldn't argue with the presence of climate change. Just keep believing the big corporate polluters' spin and let your kids and grandkids worry about it.:sad2:

Some people just can't get past the messenger, even though the end message is beneficial to us all.

I agree. Although in their defense, there are many of the evangelical Christian Right persuasion who are now getting on board with climate change and the impact that we as earth's inhabitants have on the fate of the planet. Better late than never as far as I'm concerned.

Thing is, I was never a Gore fan-but I watched the movie anyway. I respect him for the effort he's made. What I took away from the movie is that the recommendations made would be beneficial for our country in respect to pollution and most especially to energy costs. I'm all for reducing my electric and gas bill for whatever reason!

You will please explain how giving money to American politicians is going to make the whole planet a better place.

Gore is taking from well respected members of the scientific community. The nature of science is that years later, when technology advances or more information is known, some current science fact is disproven.

By your "logic" we would have no cures for cancers and diseases. Seriously, reparations. Get a grip. Seriously.

Now, with cases like the Terri Schiavo fiasco, when the Republicans were using science hacks and MDs with a political purpose, not looking at the case in any reasonable scientific framework, reparations to the American people may be in order - but never will happen.;)

I don't know, did Bush pay reparations when no WMDs were found?

If we're going to start holding politicians accountable, I say lets start with making Bush pay for the search/war for WMD in Iraq.

Yeah, want to talk about a lie (as if global warming were one)? Let's start with that little ditty. :rotfl:

With 160 square miles of the Wilkins Ice Shelf in Antarctica collapsing and torrential rainfall and flooding in the midwest just within the last month, I don't think Al Gore will have to worry about global warming being debunked any time soon, so the question is moot.

Amen to that!!
