I really doubt DVC would venture out to California. Traffic is a nightmare out there.

From past history at VB and HH(sales), it looks like all of DVC expanding will be on WDW property IMO.

I would not be so quick to write it off. With the expansion of the new theme park and the large population area, maybe this would be a good time to try one a WDL.

Disney has a lot of history in CA and I believe they would like to see the original grow. This would be different than a HH or VB because the resort & park support each other. I doubt they would build anything to big like an OKW but I am not sure if there would be any appeal hooking on to the existing hotels (been 8 years since I was there).

I seem to recall that several years back when DVC first started, DVC management did have some property in the Huntington Beach area.

The idea was dropped and I do not recall why.

Maybe if DCL get another ship with a west coast port, maybe then.

As I recall, Disney owned the land where Marriott's Newport Villas are now located......which indicates they considered it and rejected it.:smooth:

I wrote an article. "Disney's Newport Coast Villas, the Disney Vacation Club that Never Happened." See http://www.yesterland.com/ncv.html

I think the Disney has decided they don't want to be in the timeshare business -- except for the WDW on-site timeshare business.

Next year, a new Vacation Club is opening at the Disneyland Paris Resort. But once again, it's a Marriott Vacation Club, not a Disney Vacation Club. See http://www.vacationclub.com/en-us/vc/resorts/DP/default.asp

I suppose there's a small chance that Disney might still want to build an on-site Vacation Club at the Disneyland Resort in California. But they have very little land there (compared to WDW), so a Disney Vacation Club there would almost have to be a highrise structure. That's much more expensive to build.
