Will crowds be bonkers for 50th Anniverary?

In a pandemic world, 10/1/2021 is a long way off. There are so many uncertainties still. This is probably WDW hasn't opened everything back up to Pre-Covid times.

And I think it does beg the question, how does Disney celebrate a monumental anniversary in the midst of a crisis? Its easy for us to sit back and criticize Disney's moves but how can it be done safely? OR will they say it's your own risk and we're having it anyway? I'm excited to see what the future holds.

I agree with this completely. I wouldn't be surprised if they add a lot more capacity (open more park reservations) between now and 10/1, either. Things are just so unpredictable nowadays that we simply won't know until we get closer. Exactly 1 year ago this was the final weekend of operation before the parks shut down. Who could have guessed we'd be where we are today back then?

All we can do is "play it by ear", as the saying goes. We'll find out what 10/1 is like on 10/1. :)

They threw in the Ratatouille opening on 10/1, it will really be nuts.

I just feel kind of bad for people who won't realize how insane it's likely going to be. I'm going 9/30-10/3 and don't expect to do much -- I just want to say I was there. I wouldn't plan a "normal" family vacation for those dates. I do hope they open up more resorts in anticipation...I really want the Port Orleans resorts back.

Every time time we have been to Disney in the past, they were celebrating something. I think it is just part of their marketing department's way to find ways to publicize Disney. Probably what matters more is how things will have progressed with covid by October. Since no one has ever experienced anything like covid, trying to predict the future is just a wild guess at this time.

We are thinking of doing 10 nights in November. 13-22. Now I’m getting nervous. Hah. We just need something to look forward to. And decided a longer trip so we can just take our time. Decisions.

The crazy crowds will be there for the actual day 10/1 and maybe few days surrounding.

I think later in the month and beyond will be normal level crowds for time of year (pre-covid, post-covid may still be less).

Also the holiday will be over by the 11th

It's just impossible to tell. Stimulus money will be long gone, gas may be upwards of $4/gallon(it hit $3 here in KY yesterday. Prices are soaring(milk up to $3.29 yesterday). With COVID, folks are hungry for travel, BUT they are also going to be very price sensitive. A rental car during my visit the week after next is over $550 through Costco. I think the first few weeks of Oct will be busy with the 50th and the Rat ride opening, after that who knows.

They may - MAY - increase park capacity limits as vaccine rollout gets further, but I do NOT see them going to 100% capacity by then.
