My perspective on this is that there are always people that will not only not do something themselves, they don't want anyone else doing it either.

I had three sons, all circumcized, before the internet (well, before I knew how to surf the net) and I had NO idea that circ was even debateable until I read a real knock down, drag out on parentsoup several years after my youngest was born. I thought it was the norm frankly. I ran a small daycare for over 9 yrs and not once did I ever see an uncircumcized baby boy.

What I mean, will circumcision replace smoking as the next great evil that needs to be eradicated? I ask because I've been in lots of debates about circumcision, and it seems that the some on the anti-circ side are inordinately concerned with the decisions that other people make for their kids. Seems to me that it's only a matter of time before the "it isn't necessary, no one should be doing it!" fight begins.

In all my years of baby sitting I have had one boy that was uncircumcized but when he was 3 there were a lot of problems and he actually had to get circumsized then. Personally, I can't be with a guy that is not, its just downright gross looking, sort of like an anteater. BLECH

Okay, I want to see someone start a "Stop Second-Hand Circumcision" Lobby because they were harmed someway by someone else's choice of circumcision. That ought to make for a fun debate.

I pick junk food. Insurance companies see a lot of money to be made in eliminating overweight people from their roles (no, not their rolls).

Does anyone actually know someone with a botched circumcision? I know one nephew with a raggedy one, but that's it. They called it partially botched, and it was done by a medical student. Probably, tmi.

There were two cases here in Atlanta about 15yrs ago where two newborn boys were circed with electro-cautery(something the instrument was not designed for). It burned them down to a nub and both boys have been raised as girls. Very sad.

Yes, I do. It required some reconstructive surgery, done when he was a child, and which he does not remember. Despite this experience, this person wanted his own son to be circumcised as well.

I read a book about a boy in Canada who had that same issue, and I think it was because of the same procedure. Do they even use that method, anymore?
