I know that for the FD down here we are putting together supplies for the IAFF up there this weekend and than next weekend the guys will go out with their boot collecting money for the MDA.

No, it won't. Working in a children's hospital, I know a lot of people who watch and give every year, and this time will be no different. And yes, he is donating some to the Hurricane, but I would guess not all of it.

From my understanding I believe they are donating the first half to the hurricane and the rest to MD.

I do Team in Training and I do believe in general that any organization not directly involved in relief will be impacted in some way. Still successful in raising money--but perhaps not meet their goals for the year.

I saw on the news this morning that supposedly Jerry Lewis was going to run his number, as well as a number to call and give donations to the hurricane relief fund during the telethon. Also, he was encouraging donators to give half of what they normally donate to the hurricane relief, and the other half to the telethon. Both are good causes, and hopefully many will come out to contribute.

I'm going to be playing in traffic for our annual Boot Drive. We may see less, but on the other hand, in the spirit of donations that is out there with Katrina, we may see more...................

On a similar note, in my local area, the United Way campaign is starting up September 12. I can't help but think that the people's donations to the Katrina victims will hurt the United Way fundraising effort.

Kidd Craddick's radio show said they were going to postpone their kids to Disney World charity drive (sorry, forgot the real name of it) because they knew people should be donating to the hurricane victims right now. I can see why they would do that for both reasons...to help the hurricane relief, but also to make sure they raise a decent amount of money for the WDW trip.
