Will a 3 and 6 year old be able to stay together at the kids club?

Hi

When we cruise our kids will be 3 and 6. We really want them to be able to stay together. It appears lots of the lines break the kids into small age groups (3-5, 6-9, etc). It's more likely they will go if they can go together.

Feedback on other lines will also be appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes. Ages 3-12 can attend the Oceaneers Club/Lab and DCL does not further split those ages within the club. Although kids do tend to self-segregate with older kids preferring the Lab and the younger kids preferring the Club.

as long as the 3 year old is potty trained, they will be together in the Oceaneers Lab and Club.

Non-potty-trained 3 year olds can still attend the Oceaneers Club/Lab. Parents are just asked to check back frequently, i.e. every 30-60 minutes, to take the child to the restroom.

according to DCL's info from the website - "Please note that children must be fully toilet trained to be admitted to either facility."

DCL's website isn't always accurate, unfortunately. It used to be children had to be potty-trained to be in the Oceaneers Club/Lab, but that changed a couple years ago. CMs are not permitted to assist with toileting at all, but they will allow non-potty trained kids into the club if parents check back frequently to take care of toileting.

Children have to be potty trained.

Part of the registration form is signing to say that your child is potty trained.
You can easily lie, but rules end up changing when people take advantage...

Unless they've changed again, it's my understanding that a 3 year old can go to Oceaneer's, regardless if they are potty-trained or not. The parents just have to agree to return frequently to handle toilet trips. However, if there are multiple issues of the parent not returning in a timely manner, then they may not be allowed to return.

Like I said, it's part of the registration form (and has been the last 3+ years).
As long as the form is signed they're allowed in. Also like I said, you can easily lie if they're not. If a child regularly has accidents then it might be suggested that the nursery might be a better option.

I hear you! I worked in a day camp program at a YMCA resort - I was with the 3-5 year olds, and everyone had to be potty trained (no "Well, what if I come back to check?" silliness allowed...and also no to "He's in pull-ups!" Is the kid using the pull-ups as a diaper (which most of them ARE)? NOPE!) and more than once we had a parent insist that their kid was trained. One absolutely wasn't and messed himself up within the first hour. One was in pull-ups and though mom swore they were "just in case" two hours in the kid was crying that he was wet (he had been taken and refused to use the toilet) and when his mom came to get him he totally ratted her out.

That may well be, however it is totally contradictory to in-person experience MANY on the boards have experienced on their cruises. People have been told to come back every 60 minutes to check on the child (some report 30 minutes). These aren't people who lied, they explained the child's situation and were told to return frequently. So at least some CMs allow it. This seems to have started about a year ago when DCL took the hard stance of minimum 3-yrs-old for the Club.

Just reporting experiences, not policy :)

And I'm just saying what I'm trained to do.

At the end of the day, if you're registering your child with me and you tell me they're not potty trained, I don't really care. But I'll tell you that we cannot help in any way. We cannot be relied on to remind your child to go. They cannot come in in pull ups. And you are welcome to come and check on them whenever you want and use the family bathroom together. Either way, you'll still have to sign to say your kid is potty trained so I can complete the registration and give your kid the band that's actually gonna get them in the club...

Any way the question was about siblings coming in together...
