I'll answer in the opposite order just for the heck of it :-) I did see Beast once during our last visit 2 years ago.

As for how long a trip should be - that's really a personal preference. Here's how we go about making the decision.

  • Do we want to take a mid-day break everyday?
  • Do you want to include shows and other experiences?
  • How about Parades?
  • Do you like to explore places like the Animation classes, Innoventions, or Tom Sawyer's Island?
  • Do you like to explore the hotels and little known crevaces in the park?
  • Do you ride absolutely every ride?
  • Do your favorite rides tend to have long lines?
  • Do you like sit-down meals or do you prefer counter food?
  • Do you like to have time to take lots of pictures, interact with characters in the park.
If any of these things are a factor in your timetable, I'd consider going the full 6 days if you want to ride and see everything. I'm sure some people can do it in 5, but I take things a little slower.

Yes, you will be able to do almost everything. Not sure about Beast. He does show up in Fantasmic.

We were there for 4 days and that was more than enough time for us to do what we wanted to do at DL and CA. Disneyland is smaller than WDW, but you will still do a ton of walking.

In fact, the last day we were there, we rented an Alamo car (office located right there in Downtown Disney), and drove over to Crystal Cove State Park/Beach (only 17 miles away), and then along Newport Beach area. It was a nice change of pace, and we got to see just a tiny bit of California, outside of the Disneyland area.

Some might confuse smaller with less. Theres almost as many rides at DLR's two parks as there is in WDW's 4. At DLR its easier to do more in a day than you can at WDW since everythings in walking distance. No boats, buses, monorails etc. to take time away.

However, also no boats, buses, monorails, etc. to give your feet and legs a rest. I felt like I did as much walking at DLR as at WDW with little to no breaks. Everywhere you go...you walk. Between parks...to the hotel...etc.
