Will 18mo DS climb out of rides?

We're planning a trip for late November this year and my son will be almost 18mo. I know he'll change a lot between now and then, but he's always trying to climb out of highchairs, wriggle out of your arms when he wants down, etc.

I'm sure he'll be distracted on the rides, but I have this fear of him wiggling out of the seat--and especially a fear of him trying to climb over the edge of a boat. I'll be holding him, but has anyone had any trouble with wiggly little ones?

I would definitely hold on tight to little ones!

BUT, my children have always been so mesmerized by the rides and scenery that they weren't wiggly at all. It really wasn't a problem. My dd was that age when we went for the first time. She was still in the lap stage, and she was quite content just sitting there. I doubt it will be an issue.

I'm hoping the ride will distract him.... DS will be 20 months. But I have a simple cloth sling that I use to hip carry him - I'm bringing that to tie him down on rides. (Note: not tying him TO rides!)

Yes this was a huge problem for us with dd2. She had tantrums on several rides, and tried to climb out of the ride car. The main problem was that she would want to ride with her big sister (10), but the CMs would not allow that.

She did great on Dumbo, but the Tomorrowland Speedway was a disaster. And yes, I was completely freaking out about her jumping out and getting hurt. We gave up on rides entirely after the 2nd time she tried to wriggle out of the car.

We hope that next time we go, when she will be 3, will be better.

I always sat my little ones in my lap, or between me and my husband with a firm grip on them still.

That was our plan, but many CMs insisted that our daughter sit in her own seat. Maybe because she was clearly over 2yo, I don't know. I know it was for safety reasons, but it sure did make things tough.
