Wildwood NJ vacation....

Where ever you stay, what ever you do, make sure you visit our zoo! It's a very nice one! :thumbsup2

We usually stay in a rented condo in Wildwood Crest. Our Little Tykes wagon was a must to cart all of our things to the waters edge!!!

We've stayed at The Adventurer Inn. It's not cheap but the location is perfect.

We love Wildwood! Watch the tram car please!

We rented a house the first time, and a condo the second time. We used Calloway Realty and would recommend them. You get more room, privacy and a kitchen for less money than a hotel for a week. We ate at the house for breakfast & lunch; only went out for dinner and ice cream on the boardwalk.

Definitely stay in Wildwood Crest. It's quiet at night and you still get a killer beach; the boardwalk is only a short drive away. You can get houses/condos within a block or two of the beach.

Good restaurants: Little Italy, Doo Wop Diner (on boardwalk), Pink Cadillac Diner (one block from boardwalk)

Make sure you go to the bake shop at the Ravioli House and get an apple pie - YUM! Their fresh pasta is good too.

Duffers mini golf has home made ice cream - YUM!

The water parks have half price deals if you go in the morning; it's plenty of time and it's DEAD in the mornings.

Go to Wildwoods.org and request a vacation planning kit now; they will send you a map and ads for hotels/restaurants/details on Morey's Piers. Calloway gives you a big kit with lots of coupons upon check in.

There are lots of good mini golf places.

Go next door to Cape May for the day - it's beautiful! There are lots of good restaurants, shops and beautiful homes to see. The Mad Batter is a good restaurant there. Also the Pier House on Beach Avenue - expensive but worth it.

Have fun!

Would always stay in Wildwood before we bought the house here. Be sure to take a day trip to Cape May to watch the sunset and look for Cape May Diamonds!

I am suprised no one has brought up the devastating floods in the fall of 2009. My DH and I took a drive around the area in March 2010. We were staying in Cape May, NJ but my husband loves to drive and check out all the beaches.

Wildwood was the worst hit of all of the beaches. There was stagnant water right up to the road, even at the big hotels. Essentially no beach at all.

We have a place in Ocean City, MD. The dunes were severely damaged, but there is at least some beach still out front. It's small, but clean...

Wildwood's beaches on the other hand...

You park on Burk Ave.(Grew up on that street) Sea Shell Ice Cream right on Rio Grade or Duffers on Pacific ave. Both have good ice cream

Okay! Thanks for the tip about the ice cream places. We've been down to WW Crest every year just about and have yet to find a good one. I'll definitely check these out. :lovestruc

Haven't been to Wildwood in a few summers, but we used to stay at the Montego Bay. I think it's on 17th & the Boardwalk. Excellent location, and it was clean. You can't really ask for much more than that :)

They really need to have a tram that takes people from the boardwalk, down to the ocean's edge. They could make a fortune!

Love the Jersey Shore, it really is beautiful. Another idea is to stay in Cape May and just drive up to Wildwood area. Cape May is lovely and charming with lovely inns also. Haven't been to Wildwood in a couple years but there are some slummy areas and slummy motels. The beach is gorgeous on the Jersey Shore and Wildwood beach is soooooooo wide. First time I ever went to the beach in Florida was with my DH who used to live in Ft. Lauderdale area, and said, "where the heck is the beach?" I couldn't believe how small the beaches are in Florida compared to what I had grown up with.
