I only live about a hour from wildwood it sucks imo so haven't been there in over 10 years.

Now, imagine someone packing up their entire family and driving even more than an hour to visit that abysmal place for a week or more???

I'd choose Cape May over Wildwood and Ocean City over Wildwood.

Always speed past south Jersey. The beaches are filthy and the people are trash. It really is the dregs of society anywhere below LBI. To avoid the lowest common denominator of NY/NJ's finest, I skip the whole south part of the state and head right to Delaware. But always Ocean City, MD... every time.

Avalon - average housing price : $1,164,500

Stone Harbor - average housing price: $1,293,500

Sea Isle City - average housing price: $637,100

Cape May - average housing price : $529,900


Asbury Park is far north of LBI. it is a troubled shore town that has in recent years become slowly gentrified. No, I wouldn't stay there....yet. But I'd also educate myself before committing to any vacation. True story: 25 years ago one of my bosses pulled my vacation week. He was proudly cheap and bragged about finding a great deal in Asbury Park. Guess who didn't tell him anything about the town?

OP, both shoretowns have their charms. Enjoy your vacation whatever you choose.
