DVC Chit Chat Thread

It said I needed to pay $0 for the exchange, which I'm not really sure is accurate.
It is, because:
I am pretty sure the $0 exchange fee is real. When II members trade INTO DVC they have to pay a $190 fee, which is basically them paying for the DVC member's exchange out.

I'm already slightly having buyer's regret because I love Oahu.
You could always add Marriott Ko'Olina. It is right next door to Aulani.

As an aside, the $190 inbound fee used to be $95---which, together with the DVC Member being charged $95 (as they are for other point-based exchanges) came to $190. Then, many years ago, it was changed from $95/$95 to $190/$0, so the meaning was pretty obvious.

I'm a little surprised it has never gone up in all these years, becuase the Interval exchange fee certainly has.

FWIW, I have a friend who family of 4 goes to that Marriott with their parents/in-laws every year and they are always asking to rent/barter Aulani points with me. They have told me that Aulani rooms are significantly nicer.

Yeah, I don't think I could stay right next to Aulani without having FOMO. Maybe I'll have to take a walk around the Marriott when I'm at Aulani in a few weeks and see if I would be okay there. For a third of the price of Aulani, I might be okay with it.

I did add Aulani to my interval request and at the end of the transaction it said it was removed because I didn't have an eligible trade, which makes sense. I am curious, though, if I do get the exchange, will that put a one bedroom VGC or VDH up for grabs for someone else? Or, will Disney do their own internal trade and offer up a resort that I don't own?

Right. We are forbidden from using our DVC points to trade back into DVC properties (among other things).

Disney chooses the inventory to give over to Interval. This is why it is mostly SSR and OKW 1BRs.

Been really lucky on waitlists so far, just had mine pop yesterday going from BRV to BCV for 6 days in June.

Pretty stoked about it, stayed at BCV once so far (very first DVC trip) but that was only 3 days on a split stay.

Think we have had waits come through on every trip but our one home resort stay we have done.

A single waitlist for six consecutive days? Might be worth buying a lottery ticket!
Yup!

Then had the bright idea to see if i could change to a split stay since we are now not trying BRV again (was going to last year but got a waitlist to pop for BWV for 6 nights on a 2br), which the front 3 days of the 6 were there for BRV but didnt wanna deal with the hassle of moving so we are just going to enjoy the BCV for the week.

Last time kids were way younger, had baby that had just turned 1, 2 and a 7 year old, so will be more fun with the pool this time being 5 6 and 11 I think.

Of course this now changes some dining plans we were looking at, mainly that first night after being at Typhoon all day, we have landed on booking Cape May and a Chef Mickey, will cancel one of them depending on how that day is going (like if its raining all day and hampers the water park day, wont be a big deal leaving early and going to Chef mickey's vs staying longer and just going to cape may at hotel).
