We're getting some pretty nasty smoke here in Northern California from various fires in the area and as far north as Oregon. Haven't really dealt with this for at least a couple of years. I've closed all windows but outside it smells like a perpetual campfire.

I have a stockpile of N95 masks, although these were marked with a 2 year expiration date (3M marks theirs with 5 years after manufacturing). I have been doing some reading, where the important part isn't the filter material but the elastic, which might be more vulnerable to breaking.

I guess this is part of life now. It's now about 150 for PM2.5, It was worse around 2018 and 2019.

We had our own local fire here at the start of a dry spring. Just over a mile from my house, 1000 acres burned and the wind direction kept us from smelling it at all.

Shortly after was Canada’s smelly smoke and particulates turning our sky hazy yellow for a couple weeks. That was a first in my lifetime. Canada is having a rough year. Almost 40 million acres burned - near the size of NY State :(

We visited British Columbia in 2015 and the smoke was absolutely horrible. Just brown skies. That was at the time of the Women's World Cup final in Vancouver. They apparently had lots of little fires all over, but the final was played indoors.

I found a CDC approval for a 5 year expiration date from manufacture even though they were labeled as 2 years.

Just back from Yosemite, it was pretty smokey there too.
