Is there more than one pool that guests at the Villas have access to during their stay? Is the pool at the lodge accessible to guests at the Villas and is it kid friendly? ::MickeyMo

There are two swimming pools at the Wilderness Lodge and guests staying at WL or VWL will have access to both.
We enjoy the quite pool much more because it's lot less crowded but the main pool is nice too. The main pool has a kiddie slide and an infant pool. You can check out life vests for your kids at the recreational shack at no charge. I'm sure your kids will enjoy both

The main pool is nice and my two older kids enjoy it the most. The villas pool (quiet pool) is also nice and appeals more to my younger son. When he was age 3 & 4 and we were there, he loved playing on the steps at the quiet pool. He was a little water shy those years and it apparently wasn't too scary for him. He also loved for me to take him out to the "big bubbles" in the middle.

I like them both!!!

we stayed on Saturdays for years at WL until they built VWL.

so the pools here are a long time favorite.

some people think the slide is a little tame - not exciting. but hey if I want excitment I would do to BB. :teeth:

the gym here is definitely one of the best on property.

if you and the children are up to it walk over to FW. If you aren't just catch the bus or the boat. the petting zoo is purposely going to be gone shortly - so do it now while you still can.

Our kids (10 and 6) preferred the quiet pool by the villas because it wasn't as crowded.

However, I thought the water was icy cold! I was wondering if perhaps the Villas pool isn't heated? Anyone know?

Julie

Skoi we noticed the same thing the water in the quiet pool was very cold in comparison to the main pool and we figured it wasn't used as often so they turned the heater down but yes it sure felt that it was not heated at all.

Here's another vote for the quiet pool near the Villas. We enjoy hitting the pool with our DD4 in the late afternoons after spending all morning and early afternoon in the parks. It gives us a way to unwind and enjoy the moment instead of rubbing elbows with thousands of our closest friends--thus our preference for the smaller Villas pool vice the larger, louder main pool.

As a couple of posters mentioned, there are bubbles emanating in several areas of the Hidden Springs pool (I believe that's the correct name for the pool), and it makes a fun game for smaller kids to play in them. Plus, with fewer older kids (and kids, in general), a smaller child will likely feel more secure and comfortable in the HS pool. We didn't notice the water temp issue since we come from the mountains of Virginia where pool temps usually remain in the 70s; so, we found the HS pool quite warm! However, the difference in temp might be because (and someone will undoubtedly correct me if I'm wrong) the heated lobby spring flows down to the main pool adding a bit more warmth there. At either pool, though, I believe you will find fun. :cool1:

My kids (6 and 3) prefer the quiet pool and its steps too. My daughter does swim in the lodge pool with the life vest and goes down the slide but prefers the less crowded quiet pool and not wearing a vest while she swims near the stairs. Both kids like the bubbles and I love the hot tub there. Also you can work off some of the strawberry dacquari calories walking to and from the bar near the main pool. :) (As long as spouse or someone is watching your kids while you do this since there isn't a life guard at the quiet pool.)

okay I got told this about the quiet pool.

when the guests get through exercising in this excellent gym, some go swimming in this pool. they want it cool. So it is a little cooler (some times a lot) than the main pool.

The water from the lobby spring does not flow into the main pool. The water from the lobby and the waterfall just go to a return drain under the bridge. The pool water starts from a fall under the same bridge. If it was all the same, there would be a lot of chlorine loss and difficulty keeping the water clean.
