We are staying at the WL over Thanksgiving, it's our first trip to DW, I have read some reviews about this hotel, some good, some not so good. Does anyone have any information to offer.

You will always find SOMEBODY that has to say something bad. But I think you will find overall that the reviews for WL are wonderful. I can't imagine you being disappointed unless you are just very difficult to please, or don't like crowds because you will have crowds at Thanksgiving. But have a great time!

I'm going in 5 days...our first time too.....give me some info too!!

thanks

We LOVE LOVE LOVE the WL.

Shhhhhhhhhhh :ssst: ! Loose lips sink trips! Too many people are discovering the awesomeness of the WL !

It's already hard enough getting standard rooms there less than 90 days out, especially since the travel channels have been hyping the WL over the last year.

So when people ask, just say "Wilderness Lodge? Wasn't that that location at the end of 'North by Northwest' with Cary grant? Or that weird hotel in 'Twin Peaks'?"

Don't let the :genie: out any more.

Just joshing, but they are going to have to build another WL nearby if demand keeps rising :)

Go to the section for Disney Resorts and look for the Wilderness Lodge FAQ. This will provide you with more information then you will ever need. We like the WL and will be staying at the resort in December. This will be our 5th time at WL. Hope this helps. :sunny:

Burke, you're funny! :rotfl2: But you're right! :teeth:

I was so tempted to book again at the WL, but for a change we are staying at the YC. I know I'll love it too, but the WL just has a special place in our hearts... :goodvibes

My fiance and I stayed at WL during Thanksgiving last year, and it was amazing!! It was a little more crowded than usual, but we loved walking around the resort looking at all the details and sitting by the Seven Seas Lagoon at night with some evening cocktails from the pool bar....and all the jaw dropping that was done when I first walked in to the lobby...it's already beautiful, but that time of year is extra special...I hope you enjoy it as much as I did the first time I saw it!!!! Have fun on your vacation!!!!

Marrying my prince charming at Disney in '07!!!

You are staying at the most perfect place for that time of year. There's always someone who doesn't like something but the reviews of WL are overwhelmingly positive. You'll have a wonderful vacation.

We loved it in September 2002 so much, that was our only choice for this upcoming trip! We don't get to go to WDW so often, so the resort is important to us.

I find the price to be just right. Yes, the rooms aren't large, but for the location and price it can't be beat. I just can't justify paying $100+ more a night for the Poly or the Yacht Club when we loved the WL so much. The launches to the MK and Contemporary were so relaxing and a great way to get around. The restaurants were excellent (although Roaring Forks was just decent) and the theming so immersive. I also liked how we didn't have to go outside to get to the lobby or to breakfast. The way some of the other resorts are spread out, I don't think I would care for that.

My only complaint was that the pool tended to be overcrowded, but we were still able to have fun in it!

I would definitely check out the resort boards, lots of great info there :disrocks:All I can add is we love :cloud9: WL

We visited almost all of the resorts on our last trip and decided to stay at WL a few nights next summer. We loved the atmosphere there and are really looking forward to it.

you are going to love the WL.....bus transportation was very efficient and the boat ride to MK was convenient but the wait for the boats was a little long....I love the Northwest theme....rooms are a little on the small side but on our two stays there we had excellent view of the pool and lake, it was great...staff was very courteous and friendly...in Oct we are staying at the CBR because of costs and December's stay is at the Boardwalk...good luck you are going to have a great time at the WL

My family and I stayed there last Thanksgiving and we all loved it! Both my DS's(6 and 5) and DD (2) had a blast in the pool, and the Whispering Canyon Cafe and Roaring Fork restaurants were both very good (the RF is great for a quick meal or snack). I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

I love the Wilderness Lodge (and I chuckled at the Twin Peaks reference). Everything I could say about it is good except...

If you are an early to bed type, beware pirate: of the rooms over the lobby and near the Whispering Canyon? restaurant. It is like trying to sleep through a cheering crowd at a football game. Fortunately I was able to move to a quieter room.

Are the rooms overlooking the lobby considered standard or preferred?

Someone had posted a video clip of the WL from 2005 ...
go to web-site
http://mio.discoremoto.virgilio.it/marcodinaro
and then click on WL1

mine plays in Windows Media Player and is 2.16 minutes long
only music plays - no vocies- but nicely made

The lobby bear is Humphrey :paw: pat his nose when you get there
for a wonderful vacation

It's the video owners birthday in the video

Also shows the lobby, grounds, geyser, Whispering Canyon,
and a bit of Artist Point

Also - another website - but may be a bit outdated:
http://www.disneyzone.net/wlresort.htm
and
a walking tour of WLfrom 2005 (nice decription)
http://www.disneyzone.net/tourwl.htm

Our first time at WL will be 2006.
I heard the pool does bet crowded - so we'll try the 'quiet' pool by the villa's.
My kids can jump in the pool instead of using the slide ;)

We had our honeymoon there,so it has a special place in our hearts. It is my favorite second Poly. But there is just something about the WL that is so magical. I love it. It is a wonderful, fun place. :)

We love WL and my DH would rather stay there than any other Disney resort. The theming doesn't appeal to everyone but it suits us perfectly. We love sitting in the rockers near the huge fireplace unwinding after a day in the parks. :goodvibes
