We are thinking, seriously hard, of twin centre break in December this year to I Drive then Wilderness Lodge, one week in each. There are three of us, me the planner, darling wife Donna the spender and John the soon to be 12 year old monster. We have stayed in the Poly, AK Lodge and Port Orleans. I was wondering how does the Wilderness Lodge compare to these?:confused3

We've neve stayed the but have eaten at the whispering canyon cafe. I must say from what I have seen this place is amazing. It is a deluxe resort so you will find it a higher standard than PO but on a similar scale to AK and the Poly, the latter of which has a higher price tag for being on the mono rail.

It is a resort that I have on my wish list.

Great to hear you are the planner, I'm the planner and the spender, must be a woman thing :rotfl2:

thats a difficult one really because the resorts are planned to be so much different from each other. We stayed in WL and we loved it. Obviously unlike the Poly it has no monorail but the transport, if you are going to use it, is good from there with a ferry boat to MK instead of the bus. Then the normal bus to everywhere else. Actually come to think of it there was a bus to the TTC as well so you can get the monorail. The transport to DTD is a bit hit and miss though. We went for a pool view and it was great. Personally we are mega fans of POR as it just suits our style, but would not hessitate to stay at WL again. We always used the quiet/smaller pool at WL and it was often empty. The rooms were an ok size but think they are the smallest of the delux hotels. It has a small food court to grab essentials and a good store which sells quite a range of goods. I think the WL has the most impressive lobby and there are various places you can go and sit on different floors..all in all a great place to stay.:)

We are staying in a one bedroom villa this time as bought into dvc last year and chose this as our home resort. I lovvve this resort. The rustic feel and the breathtaking lobby. Also like the fact it has a beach and the boat to MK.
I don't know much about the resort really but I love animal kingdom lodge and it had the same impact when we walked in.
The polynesian is the resort I would stay at if I had not of bought into dvc but like others it is nice to try different resorts.have stayed at POP (3 times) CBR, POR(twice) OKW (Twice),AKLV (twice) and SSR and they all have there good points. The latter we did not enjoy and would not go back but others love it.
I think it is a good chance to try different resorts doing a split stay as long as you dont mind moving.
I would like to try all the resorts at some point world of animation being one:thumbsup2

we LOVE the wilderness lodge!!!!

we've stayed there about 10 times and always loved it..

the rooms are smaller than the poly.....i think they're about the size of the rooms at AKL....

the hotel itself is beautiful!! and the pool is very nice..

and i love taking the boat to the MK....i find that to be one of the most relaxing things...the boat from WL to MK..

We have stayed at Caribbean Beach, The Poly and WL. Loved WL the most!! Poly was great for transport, obviously, but I did find the lobby a bit train-stationy with all the comings and goings. WL was super relaxing, except for the daily poolparty at about 3pm, which had the loudest music! If I was visiting WL as a couple without kids I would not have been impressed by this, but it was fine as a family. The boat transport to MK and the Contemporary was so enjoyable( my fave part at the Poly was the boat to and from MK).

The WL was designed by the same architect who did the AKL (unfortunately he passed away not too long ago). While the interior design is not as "energetic" or mood enhancing as the AKL it is still well worth the experience as they did a fabulous job with the interior appointments. The architect was a specialist in woodwork and it is evident throughout.

The pool "starts" in the lobby and then trickles outdoors to the actual swimming pool. There are beautiful boarded walkways with lights outside, makes for a nice night time stroll.

My favorite part is the drive up towards the hotel where they stimulate a mountain road that leads up to the entrance.
