At the moment the standard rooms at WL are at the top end of our budget (unless we are lucky enough to get AP rate when they come out).

I wondered though if the woods view rooms are much better. My concern about standard rooms are not the possiblity of getting a car park view, but more getting a room overlooking the lobby - I think I read that these rooms can be noisy.

I would love to have opinions from WL veterans.

We've had all balcony view from both a standard room, courtyard room, and a woods room. We never had any overlooking the lobby although the one over the pool was very nice. We really enjoyed this one even though it was a bit noisy. We were rarely there (mostly at the parks) and when we did return, the noise wasn't bad at all. We LOVE the WL no matter where you stay. Hope you have a great visit!!! :cool1:

We splurged for a courtyard view this Dec. - $135/ nt. with an AP rate, and it was awesome! I was worried about noise, but we never heard any & I'm a light sleeper. We've also had some nice wood's views, but that courtyard view couldn't be beat - we could see the pool, lake, EWP, & Wishes over the top of the other building! You might book a standard @ the reg. rate & then keep checking for AP rates, so you can bump up to a nicer view. Only once was I given a free upgrade from a wood's to a courtyard without asking (I never ask), & I think it was because my daughter was ill & we really needed a clean room right then (we checked in at noon), so she could rest. Have a great time! :D

We actually request a room with a lobby view because we find it so spectacular. We've had a woods view room on both stays at WL (the same room in fact), but I think we've been very close to the "line" between a standard and woods view. FWIW, noise has never been a problem.

Ok, I have a really dumb question...especially since my name is WildernessLodgeLover (but I never claimed to be an "expert! LOL!)

Do you mean there are rooms that actually overlook the lobby? i see there are DOORS that face the lobby...but do you mean there are rooms that have some sort of a balcony that overlooks the lobby? i have never seen anything like that. I am picturing the lobby in my mind right now and I cannot picture anything actually overlooking the lobby. Thanks!

No, none of the rooms actually have a balcony over the lobby ~ all the balconies face outside. The lobby facing rooms are the rooms that have a door opposite the overlook into the lobby as opposed to having a door that faces another door or wall in the hall.

We have stayed in a standard room and had a great view of the Contemporary and some of the fireworks from Magic Kingdom. The downside to this view is that if you look down you see the loading area and the back entrance for employees. The employees go out there to smoke and talk and the beeping from delivery trucks got a little annoying the day we stayed at the resort instead of going to the parks.

Thanks for the reply, marie! So are all lobby facing rooms "standard" or are some "woods?" I kind of think it would be cool to try one of those lobby facing rooms, if the view is good.

wildernesslodgelover~ some are standard rooms and some are woods. If you go to the Frequently Asked Questions thread about WL you can see the exact room numbers of the lobby facing rooms. I tried requesting a room facing the lobby this past summer, but they were unable to accomodate my request. They did give us our other requests ~ N/S, upper floor, view of fireworks. We liked our room (as long as we didn't look down) and it was only around the corner and a little down from the elevators. Very convenient. We loved the WL in general!

room # 6097 stayed in this Christmas. woods view with bunk beds and overlooking the lobby, view of lobby was breathtaking and noise was never a factor and this was with resort being completely sold out.

Thanks Marie...I am going to have to check out the WL Facts thread...it is just so long, it is hard to get all the way through! the last time we stayed at WL we had 4th floor, inner courtyard, but we were in that thing they call the "bear face" or something...is that what they call it? My point is we looked out to the pool, then right past it to the lake. That was the best room ever nd I wish I could get that same room again, but I do not rmember the room number.

joe-Good to know that noise was not a factor, I would be worried about that.
