I've stayed at both and they are both very beautiful!!! But, the smell of the fire, the African music, and the animals really blew me away!!!! I'd go with staying at the AKL

We've stayed at both too many times to count. We really enjoy both for different reasons. The overall transportation has been better at AKL for us.

Have stayed at both. I like WL, but LOVED AKL. I think the theming is more unique and the service we received was better. Transportation did not make a difference to us; AKL has direct bus routes while WL shared everything. Only the boat to MK was a plus, but we don't spend everyday at MK. I enjoyed the restaurants at AKL more than WL.

We had fantastic views at both. Savannah at AKL with tons of animals right outside our window and very private. Woods view at WL overlooking the otter pond with a nice view of the monorail, castle and fireworks. Could also see the electrical pageant.

PS--I hate split stays. It's not so much the checking out and checking in, but the unpacking, repacking, unpacking and repacking. We did that last month for a 10 day trip and NEVER AGAIN!! Too troublesome and too time consuming.

That's my feeling too. I just told my wife, no souveniers until we've checked out of AKL. The one time we did a split stay, Disney moved our bags for us. Besides - My wife insists on packing and unpacking. Makes me leave the room.:)

Why I have always wanted to stay at AKL, we will probably stay at the WL on our next trip because of its convenience to MK and the Monorail.

I am not going to vote. I have stayed at both. They are both wonderful resorts with their own unique features. I couldn't possible "compare" the two.

If we had a car, then AKL. If we didn't have a car, then WL. Overall, I'd prefer AKL because of the long distance of the commotion from the parks. I also think that the WL is too dark inside.

I wanted to vote "both", but there wasn't that option. I love both, and I can't pick one over the other.

This is like asking me if I want to shop at Coach or the Coach Outlet. :lmao:

I haven't stayed at the WL but the proximity to the MK is a big plus. The AKL is so relaxing and the smell of the spices from Boma and the music--very relaxing. Ideally it would be a split stay for me between the AKL and the Poly. :-)

we just stayed at AKL for the first time Dec 21-23 and I think WL is more homey. They are both dark, but AKL seemed to be darker and that is kinda creepy. We love both and would probably stay at both again, but WL wins as my favorite. My mom really liked AKL, but she hasn't stayed at WL yet. I didn't like that you had to go down to the "basement" or outside to get to the restaurants, especially because the one night we went to Mara it was cold, but it would be a pain with a refillable mug and was a pain because 2 of us use ECV's. I won't complain about trasnportation, because we have stayed at the FW cabins and their internal transport is horrible for us.

My vote is for WL for the homey, open feel, the great pool and boat transport to the MK.

It's the WL for us! We don't even like visiting AKL. We've been there twice and it just doesn't do it for us AT ALL. I love Boma though!

I have never stayed at either, but my sister stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and loved it. My 82 year old (really good 82) parents are going to Disney in March. They have stayed a lot of times at the Coronado and like it there. There are big bird watchers and we thought they should stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge this time. Is Animal Kingdom lodge laid out wide spread or is the access to buses for parks very convenient from all rooms. My son is a disney employee and will make arragements for their room, but if they stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge can they request a room that has a better chance to see wildlife? I have been to both Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge to eat and like the atmosphere at both. Please give some advice and help, please.:)
