Wilderness Lodge Villas -- tell me!

about a studio at the WLV? I rented one from an owner and wondered about the size, best location etc... any info would be appreciated!! Thanks ....goof

I guess I'm in the minority here-one of the "complainers" about VWL. We purchased there as our home resort because it was so beautiful and really looked forward to our first trip "home" last June. From the moment we checked in we encountered the rudest CMs, with an attitude like "we're the most beautiful resort, so we don't have to care!" and errors with no apology. We were so disappointed that when my room card got rejected for a charge at MGM on my last day, and a call to WL gave no explanation or apology, I had a total, screaming, crying, melt-down right there under the Sorcerer's hat! When we got home, I wrote 2 letters of complaint, and received several very nice phone calls and apologies.
The last night we spent at OKW (planned before we left home). DH fell in love with it, and now we wish OKW had been our home. We probably won't return to VWL soon, partly because of our experience, but mostly because of DH's new-found love for OKW.

(3) (alternative view) WL is about a mile from the Polynesian, and certainly within walking distance for someone in good health. However there are no sidewalks along the road into WL, so you would have to be somewhat adventurous.

GF is just another 1/2 to 3/4 mile along the lake from the Polynesian. The Contemporary is actually quite close to WL as the crow flies, but unless you ARE a crow, you'd have to walk out of WL to the main intersection then back north to CR.

Bottom Line: While you certainly CAN walk from WL to any of the monorail resorts, Disney apparently doesn't want people doing this as no walking paths are provided.

We hopped a fence into River Country when it was closed for refurbishment, I think we're adventurous enough for a walk to the Poly!

We've just returned a couple of weeks ago ( feels like months ) from our 2nd trip to the villas and fourth or fifth to the lodge.

When we stayed at the lodge, we overlooked the area that the villas were getting built in and it was our dream to visit them. Purchasing DVC, with VWL being our home resort is most definately our dream come true.

Our last visit was only 8 nights. Flying in from the UK, you might think that it's quite a trail for such a short time, but from the moment we landed and indeed from the moment Jack saluted us and "welcomed us home" at the gate, we were indeed home.

We had absolutely no problems, the room 1551( ground floor along the corridor from the sliding door next to sturdy branches ) was perfect. No other words describe it.

The villas and the lodge take you breath away every time you enter the sliding doors ( or is that the airconditioning ) and the cm's were all very nice.

To finish of a first class holiday, a trip to Artist Point was in order. This is now on our list of "must do's" . Again ... perfect ( the Artist Point Cobbler is unbelievable - if they would only fly them across here )

More "goodies" about VWL. We stayed in a studio last Oct. and really enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and peaceful. Only heard a few "fast tiny footsteps" going down the hall from time to time. We didn't have any problems with transportation, and according to a CM, the resort was full. Our view was out towards the bus stop area, and was okay with us. Saw a doe and a fawn from the balcony one afternoon.
Make those reservations, don't think you'll be disappointed.
Our must do is (for me) have the salmon at Artist Point - yummy!!

Aren't the interior of the boats to the MK air-conditioned? I sure thought they were...they sure seemed cool to us after a day in the parks. I'm sorry if the information I provided was not accurate, but I was sure the interior had A/C. Maybe just getting out of the sun made it feel cooler?

we rented points from an owner on our "purchase trip" and stayed in a studio. It was plenty of room for the two of us and we used the micro, fridge, balcony, which was overlooking the quiet pool as requested. Seemed like just as much room as OKW studio to me...although different layout of course.

BWV was our first home, but we bought a small addon at VWL, and after staying there this July bought another one--we actually have more points at VWL now. DH loves it! He loves the woodsy, quiet part of it.
The only con I have is the pool. It is beautifully themed, but at least in July it was always crowded--and the slide is worthless compared to the BWV slide as far as I'm concerned. For family fun we enjoyed the quiet pool a lot more.
We also liked our dinner at WC and plan on at least one breakfast there next time.

Must do for me is staying up late and taking a good book to various locations around WL and VWL. Especially in WL, there are great, secluded places to sit in a comfortable chair by a fire. The overlook areas outside are also very nice spots to relax.

Thank you to everyone for such great responses...DH and I just decided that next time around, we will try to get WLV. We are in Disney now and just went over to look at the lobby/sitting area of the Villas and the kids freaked out.....they just loved it! Tonight, we are going to visit WC and watch Electrical Water Pagaent as well...
