Wilderness Lodge Villas rooms

I don't know the layout of this resort but was wanting to know if there are rooms that are close to the Lodge? We plan on using the Lodges main pool with the waterslides alot, and the resturants. So we'd like to have a ground floor room close by. How far of a walk would it be ? And what 1bdrm unit should we request?

It's a completely separate building. But you can walk through the covered walkway from the main lobby of the WL to the VWL. Or you can walk around the end of the villas, past the end of the side of the WL closest to the VWL, past the pool bar and you are at the main themed pool.

It's a short walk over to the main building.

By the way, you can't use your patio exit to leave the building. For one thing, there is no way to lock the patio door from the outside. Second, the patios usually are surrounded by shrubbery, so you are not supposed to walk through the shrubbery. It's just a patio.

It's not far to the main pool anyway from the Villas, if you go around by the Villas Pool (you can go out the back door of the Villas).

We stayed in the villas last summer and I would say that it was not more than a 5 minute walk to/from the pool or VWL from our villa.

We love the Lodge! The walk is not far at all - just a couple of minutes if you're room is close to the main entrance. It's a covered walkway to the main Lodge, and also covered to the bus stops, which are right outside the DVC villas. Make sure to enjoy the Iron Spike room in the DVC villas lobby - lots of comfy seats and fireplaces, and checkers/chess or cozy nooks to read in. The beach is great for lounging and enjoying at night as well with the electric water parade and views of the MK fireworks. And we love to eat at the Whispering Canyon cafe and enjoy the all you can eat skillet. Enjoy your stay!

VWL Maps

The Villa's section is not large and the walks are not long. You are best off requesting what you want rather than a specific room b/c if that room is already occupied they will not know why you were requesting it and might put you in something completely opposite. The best request would probably be close to main lodge lower/ground floor.
