Wilderness Lodge up-grade

We are going to WL and have a woodsview room booked in June. I really want a view of the fireworks because my kids can never stay out that late and it sounds so romantic being able to sit on the balcony with my hubby and watch the fireworks at night. I have been told about a lot of woodsview rooms that you can view them from. Do any of the courtyard views have views of the fireworks or not?

I had booked a standard/smoking room. When I got there I was upgraded for free to a courtyard view on the 5th floor. I guess there were no standard room that were smoking rooms.

AAAAAH! PUPPY SO CUTE!!!!!!!

JT-Yes, WDW is VERRRRY smart to do that! The only thing that concerns me about staying CL at WL is the solid balconies. DH and I are big on sitting on the balcony and drinking a glass of wine and people watching. I am rpetty sure that all CL rooms have solid balconies. Did it bother you at all?

I guess my point is...if I got CL for $25 it would not bother me. I would just hate to pay rack rate at WL for CL and get a solid balcony!

wildernesslodgelover,

I was concerned at first too about the solid balconies. But they weren't a problem at all. It was very pleasant sitting on the balcony with an evening cordial. We had a room on the MK side and had a wonderful view of the fireworks each night. It was fantastic. :flower:

We had 3 rooms booked last August, woods view. As the CM was showing me where the rooms were on the map, I noticed they were facing inward, meaning Courtyard view. All 3 rooms were in a row and had been upgraded to Courtyard View. We felt very special. I asked the CM if we had been upgraded to CV and he smiled and said yes.

We were glad to have the Courtyard view as Hurricane Charley hit two days later. We felt much safer facing the inside of the hotel.

We have standard booked for June. I am just fine with it, but an upgrade would be nice too.

We booked a Woods view for our 25th Anniversary last Sept. I mentioned that it was our anniversary on the room request and the pre-mailed questionaire that I received. Although we did receive a nice certificate acknowledging the anniversary on check-in, nothing on a room. Oh well, we got what we paid for.

Not looking for flames, but I'm amazed at how many people almost expect a free upgrade and are not shy about asking for it. If it happens, great, but don't get upset if it does not happen. Just my $0.02 worth.

last july we were auotmatically upgraded to a courtyard view without asking. i asked the CM if any upgrades were available and he told me that he already upgraded me. nice little way to start our vacation.

i dont know if this had anything to do with our luck but we checked in on july 7th which i believe is not considered "prime time" at the deluxe resorts. so i assume if better rooms are available and not already booked at your time of check-in your luck of obtaining a free upgrade may be greater
