We have never stayed at the WL before and would like an overview of the transportation system.

I have heard that WL shares buses with the Poly, GF, and Fort Wilderness. Is this information current? About how long of a travel to the parks & DD from WL? In the bus stop route, when does WL get picked up and dropped off? (First, second, last, etc.)

Anyone willing to share their transportation experience with the WL, please do so! :)

Thanks,

I can answer some of your questions, but not all. When we stayed at WL the buses were shared between WL, GF, and the Poly. Ft Wilderness was not in our bus transportation loop. I cannot recall which resort was first, which next, etc for pickup and drop off...I am not good at paying attention to details! The only direct route to the MK from WL is via water taxi, and that runs between WL, the Contemporary, and Ft Wilderness. I also cannot tell you exactly how long it took to get from point A to point B... again the lack of paying attention to details. I can tell you that we never waited more than a few minutes for the bus from WL and that it seemed like the transportation never took very long. I know some have complained about the bus transportation at WL, but our experience was a positive one. We were at WL in early Dec, so it was not a peak time. The buses were never full, although the water taxi was full at times. Hope this answers some of your questions.

Here's another recent thread that talks about this in more detail:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=354136

Prior to 11am, theme park buses are shared with Grand Floridian ONLY. After 11am, Epcot and Studio buses are shared with Fort Wilderness only. WL is always the first stop. Theme park buses run every 15 minutes, TTC/FW buses run every 10.

Travel times are not bad... no more than 15 minutes for any bus ride. Times would be comparable for a car.

We are staying at the WL in early May. Can you tell me about the boat transportation from WL to MK? How long of a wait, time it takes to get to MK, earliest boat, crowds? Since you are a CM - what are the crowds like in early May (1-11)? Thanks in advance for your answers.

The boat goes from FW to WL to MK... its a nice ride. Not very long at all... wait time is the standard 15-20 mins, sometimes less. Im guessing crowds at that time will be moderate.

Boats typically run from 8am until 45 mins after the park closes.

An alternate way to get to/from the MK is via Monorail. There is a bus at WL that goes to the TTC and back. From there you can catch the Monorail to the MK, or to Epcot. Monorail service starts at 7:30 for MK, and 8:00 for Epcot. The TTC/WL bus runs from 7am until 2am.

Thanks for the replies. I posted because of I a thread I read on the Resort Board. There were a few people who mentioned they hated the transportation system at WL, so much that they refuse to stay at that resort! (Now, I didn't put much credit into those responses. My finace' and I are pretty easy to please and have found nothing wrong with Disney Transportation System. ;)
But I did want to get other people's opinions, so thank you.

It looks like we will have a great time at the WL!

Thanks for the link Tyler! Very informative. :D

The trasportation at WL is one of the reasons we stay at WL. For two reasons: First is because my girls _LOVE_ the boat ride and they both strongly view as part of the parks. We ride it around on our down days just for fun to please the girls. The second is because the only time my parents took me to WDW we stayed at Ft. Wilderness and I remember being in awe of the boat and thought it was the greatest thing. I read of people who believe that they aren't really at WDW until they ride the monorail I have to say I am that way about the boat. :D
