We're planning on dinner at Artist Point one evening then heading over to the Poly. If we have time, we'd like to take the boat/boat or boat/monorail to get there.

If we're short on time, we could take a taxi but it's so close on google maps, it looks like you can walk through the TTC to get there. But looks can be deceiving and I don't know if the roads that show up on the map are actually walkable.

Thanks for any advice.

The walking distance between the WL and TTC would be approximately half a mile, so it may be longer than you think. In any case, Timberline Drive and Seven Seas Drive do not have sidewalks. Walking would probably not be safe, especially after dark.

If you have the time, take the boat over to MK and then hop the monorail to the Polynesian. If you need to get back to WL, reversing the trip is easy.

There are two boats that depart from the Wilderness Lodge. One will take you to the Magic Kingdom and the other (a smaller boat) will take you to the campground and the Contemporary (the same boat stops at both locations). From either the Contemporary or the Magic Kingdom, you can take the monorail to the Poly. From the Magic Kingdom, you can also take the boat to the Poly.

Walking is not an option as there are no safe places to walk.

This method works great - we have used it a few times

Thanks for the responses. I was concerned that it would not be a safe walk as it will be in the evening. I do like the boats.

fyi not sure of current policy or your dining time, but when staying @ WL we've found the boats quit running approx 1 hour after the MK closes/inclement weather.

we've walked from TTC to poly before, it's an enjoyable walk and have had no issue having a cab called for us after dinner.

The cab fare would probably be less than $5 incl tip and take no more than 5 minutes, it's less than 2 miles door to door. Getting there any other way will take at least an hour.

Getting there any other way will take at least an hour.

No, it won't.

10 minute boat ride to MK + 10 minute Monorail to Poly.
10 minute avg. wait for boat + 5 minute wait for Monorail.

Total 35 minutes, a far cry from "at least an hour"!

If you want to use WDW transportation take the boat from the Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary, then from there get on the Resort Monorail to the Polynesian.

However if you took a taxi that's going to be under a 5 minute ride and might be worth the small cost.

10 minute wait for boat
boat gets stuck behind electrical water pagent, trip = 20 min
get ot monorail platform, they r doing a track switch, wait = 10 min
3 stops to the poly, wait = 10-15 min
at least an hour is the recommendation FOR A REASON

Also the boats to MK stop running when the park clears. The time we quote is 1.5 hrs after park closing. However, the blue route from WL to CR runs until 11:30 every night without fail. If there is inclement weather, such as severe fog like tonight or extremely heavy winds, then boats might be shut down, but it is not frequent

yes avoid MK at all costs when possible IMO

You assumed all the worst case scenarios, and you still came up with under an hour.

Yes, ALLOW an hour; in fact, the official recommendation is 90 minutes. But to say the trip will take AT LEAST an hour is factually inaccurate.

I would take a cab there, but the monorail and boat *back*. That way, you don't have to worry about time pressure, and can enjoy the trip---even if it takes a few extra minutes.
