Ok, we are all booked at the Wilderness Lodge (boyfriend and I) and we have a courtyard view. I booked through AAA and am requesting a king size bed and a room that views the fireworks (if available of course) BUT I wanted to have a special surprise for my boyfriend when we got there. See, He is basically doing this trip for me -- he's never been to Disney, I KNOW he's going to love it (definitely his THING) but I want to "thank" him for doing this for me somehow.

I want to do this with the hotel because when we were deciding on hotels and had to choose between Wilderness, Contemporary, Boardwalk, Beach Club/Yacht Club and Animal Kingdom he chose WL (I didn't care) and I think it's what he's most excited about this trip. Upgrading to Concierge service isn't an option (we are there for eight nights) but is there anything else I can do/request that would make this vacation more special for him? And any men reading this, before you comment -- remember, this is a family board :smooth: -- I don't kiss and tell

THANKS!!!!!!!!

This has nothing to do with any extra suprise, but if you have a courtyard view room I don't think you be able to see any fireworks, you either need a woods view and I have heard that sometimes in a standard view room you will be able to see the fireworks, also keep in mind that the fireworks would be kind of far out. With a courtyard viewroom, basically you see bay lake, the pool, the waterfall, most of the time you could see all of thses features from your balcony. Contemporary you would be able to see fireworks from your room.

As a male married a bit over 15 years now, I can say that the room isn't the biggest deal. Getting time away with the one you love, is.

Now that being said, if you really want to put a grin on his face, stash away a different set of "P.J.'s" (wink, wink, say no more, say no more...) for each night. Make it something he hasn't seen so each night is a new experience. The first night will thrill him :love2: , the second will suprise him , and the third will have him wondering how long you can keep this up (no pun intended) :hyper: . You won't need to see the fireworks outside your window, you'll be making your own inside. That's a memory he'll really cherish. :cool1: Trust me.

Servants of Evan,
Those are great ideas, I'll have to keep them in mind...............

Servants of Evan,

Thanks for the idea. Was trying to think of different ways to suprise DH after 3 years of being married, and 11 years of just being together. I'm sure my DH will thank you after our trip :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well thank you servants. I was planning on doing some stuff like that anyway  LOL butI get your drift.

Guess I'm off to Victoria's Secret LOL

You could upgrade just 1 night to concierge and than go on AKL's safari, they have one that a concierge guest at any of their hotels can do (also some only AKL concierge can do). Unless you really don't like the africa theme at all it is worth it just to go over there to look around, it was designed by the same person and although I love WL I actually prefer AKL because it is easier to lose yourself in the fantasy since you don't know what to expect from africa but you do from a western lodge.

YOu could have something in the room when you arrive. THe Disney Florist has some nice selections. Maybe a bottle of champagne and some massage oils? Check out www.disneyflorist.com for some ideas. Be sure to click on where it says "our own unique designs." Hope this helps!

And for those of you who don't get down to Disney as often as you'd like, follow the above advice and simply tell the DH that there's something about being at Disney that makes you feel "frisky." Just make sure your calendar is clear! ;)

The one time we stayed at the WL (we bought DVC after that) we asked for a king bed. The room was a handicapped room. When I asked about that the CM told me most of the king beds are in hc rooms. I don't understand that reasoning but that's what he told me. So if you do not want that kind of room, ask before you accept the room cards.

We'll be at the WL for our 21st anniversary (with our kids).
Victoria Secrets - not for me, at least since we have had kids - love them, but they do wonderful ;) things to your figure (I guess it's my age too :teeth: ).

I am ordering a bottle of wine, some nice wine glasses and flowers for our anniversary to celebrate.

I have a courtyard - upper floor requested - view.
Kids can watch tv (hoping for bunkbeds) and we can go to the balcony and enjoy some time together.
Yes we are romantic, but after 21 years of marriage and a few years before marriage, plus kids and work, we snitch what ever time we can get together. :)

Enjoy what ever you decide to do !

Call WL gift shop & see if you can get something sent to the room mug, pins, picture frame. Or get Room Service for breakfast one morning & sit on the Balcony. I surprised DH with the Back Stage Epcot tour, he loved that. He got to see the barges they shoot the firework off of.

I surprised my husband with a trip to WDW back in September 2002. We didn't really have a honeymoon and by 2002, we had already celebrated 12 years of marriage and three kids. I had planned this trip for a few months and made it a Honeymoon trip by booking that special package. I know from your post that you aren't married and this might not be right for you, but there are options that we enjoyed that might be great for you. With our package (I believe they have changed with the new ticket options however), I planned a Keys to the Kingdom tour and we also had a couples massage at The Spa at the Grand Floridian. THAT was WONDERFUL!!! It is expensive though and I am thankful it was part of our package, but might be something the two of you might enjoy. The Keys to the Kingdom Tour isn't a romantic thing, but it was a lot of fun. You can't take that with kids, so it was our only opportunity for a long time (#4 is here now).

Whatever you decide, you will have a fantastic time. I also planned our trip at the Wilderness Lodge. I have been to all but about three of the resorts and this was the one we absolutely fell in love with. I don't think I will ever stay anywhere else. I was always wanting to go to the Grand Floridian, but as I get older, I realize that the Wilderness Lodge is more my speed. Just gorgeous!!!

Enjoy your trip!
