Wilderness Lodge Standard View Vs. Courtyard View?

Thanks for all the posts! It looks like we will go WL Standard. We aren't even going to request anything specific area, just gonna wing it. We are waiting for a call from AAA right now with our quotes. :)

Well, what do ya know. WL AAA had no standard view. Booked a Courtyard view for about the same price as Standard without the AAA discount. So we have 7 nights January 12-19th, courtyard with dining. We decided to stay with WL and do AK next time anyhow. I have read lots of nice things about WL. Yippeeee:cool1:

Just did something similar and upgraded from Woods-view to Courtyard-view. I couldn't care less what view we got, honestly, but by upgrading I could use a discount code that wasn't available for a woods-view room. I ended up saving money and getting some perks I didn't have before. Not going to turn that down.

That is so awesome you're going to WDW with your Jordan's refund! My in-laws cashed in too. I think you'll be thrilled with the Courtyard View (we check into ours on Thursday!). We've stayed at WL once before and had Courtyard and can't imagine a different view now. Of course, I start every day eating breakfast on the balcony so it is more important to me than it might be to others. And definitely do Savannah View when you stay at AKL, there's no beating that. Anyway, congrats. Yay Red Sox!!!

I'm in the 'Book standard view' group. We have always booked std. view and once we got bumped up to courtyard but it really wouldn't have been worth the extra money in my opinion. Some of my favorite views have been considered standard . One view was over the service entrance and while the daytime view wasn't that great being able to sit on the balcony at night and watching the MK fireworks was wonderful. And the other great view was facing the DVC pool & building. The DVC pool is kinda hidden behind a line of trees and shrubs so you couldn't really see it so we had a nice woodsy view - not sure if that is actually considered a woods view or not but we had booked it as a standard view room.

Just being in the WL is a treat!!

Of course the AKL is also really beautiful and relaxing and a std. view is still very nice.

I would not suggest a standard room. I am not usually picky about the views at Disney resorts, but I satyed in a standard room at the WL. It overlooked the service area(concrete view, CM's moving about, service vehicles coming and going, dumpsters, and noisy). Did I say noisy? This was the noiseiest room i have ever stayed in at any disney resort, including Pop. Not condusive to spending quiet time on your balcony in your jammies and coffee.I will not stay in a standard room again at the WL. I have a woodview booked my my trip in a few weeks..

Cool about the rebate. We booked 3 nights for our anneversary. Our first day will be spent almost entirely at the lodge to enjoy it's atmosphere. We booked a standard room, and I'm mostly hoping for quiet.

We stayed at AKL the last time, and got a Savannah view, and it was definitely worth it. At that time, 3/4 of the rooms looked out on the animals though. Even so, there were so many place to sit and watch the animals, that even if you didn't have a Savannah view, you could still enjoy the scenary. I don't plan to spend much time looking out the window or sitting on the balcony this trip. Too many other places to sit and enjoy the view at WL!

Have a fun, safe trip next week! See you by the fireplace!

Cheers,
SkywayGuy

We booked standard view at WL this June as well. The last time we stayed at the WL, we booked a woodsview room and our view was green roofs littered with cigarette butts. I called the front desk and asked if there was a mistake and she said "Can you see trees?", my reply was "Yes, the tops of trees at the ends of the roof", her reply was, "well than it is a woodsview." We asked to be moved but they had no other rooms that were connecting (we were with our parents), so that is what we kept. It was not such a big deal to us, but our parents were not going to the parks and I was hoping that they would have had a better view since they spent a lot of time in the room. Needless to say, we just booked standard this time, can't imagine it could be much worse!!

If you're not really going to be in your room much, than who cares about the view right? As long as I don't hear people screaming in the the pool as I'm trying to sleep, then all is well!!!

I am booking WL for our first trip in July so I'm looking forward to it!!!
