Wilderness Lodge room questions?

Hello, everyone! This is my first attempt to post a message here, so please let me know if I make any mistakes.

Hubby and I are planning to go to the Wilderness Lodge for the first time with my Mom and Dad next Saturday. I have been reading a lot of information over the internet recently and I am trying to figure out what rooms to ask for. I understand that the lodge has a U shape and that upper floor rooms on the bottom of the U are what I am probably looking for. I read earlier that there is one set of rooms with King beds that connect. Are these courtyard view? If so, does anyone know what room numbers they are? Alternatively, rooms with two queens that are connecting would be fine as well. Also, Mom has allergies, so a nonsmoking room is important. Any suggestions as to rooms that fit this criteria would be much appreciated.
Also, how should I request these rooms? Do I call reservations or the hotel? Should I ask for the specific room numbers or describe what I am looking for? What are the chances of actually getting these rooms? Am I asking for the impossible, here? I don't want to seem greedy, but on the other hand, if I don't ask, then how will the people know what it is that I would like to have?

Sorry to ask so many questions. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We are only in WDW for three days, so we really want to make the most of our time there.
It is amazing how much there is to learn and know before you go to Disney World!

You guys sure have lots of great information here. I don't know how I would manage without you. Thank you very much,

RaeD

Sorry I can't give you specific room numbers but I can tell you that there are many courtyard view rooms on the upper level which would be the inside of the "U" you are referring too. As far as non smoking that would be no problem because there are only a small amount of smoking rooms in the WL, I believe they are on the 5th floor south wing.

You are NOT at all greedy asking for specific rooms or a room in a specific area. Your best bet is to fax your request to the room assigner's attention about 3 days before your trip to (407) 824-3232. Best to state your name (of course:p) and reservation number as well.

As far as whether they can accomodate you just depends on the availibility of the room on the day you're checking in. If you leave it open to a few areas/rooms you shouldn't have a problem.

I had faxed my request back in August and got very close to the one room I wanted (although it ended up being a noisey room because it was close to the elevators). I would request a room down by Bay Lake next time:)

Check on the WL FAQ for specifics about rooms. I found that thread very helpful before our trip. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!

Thank you for the response.
I will indeed fax both name and reservation number to the room assigner as you suggest.

Is there a way to post a question in the WL FAQ? It seems to be a wealth of information!

Thank you,

RaeD
