Just got back very early this morning from our stays at the Wilderness Lodge concierge, and the Polynesian concierge, didn't want to come home! lol
I have a lot to say about each resort, so I will post my reviews separately in 2 different threads.
Wilderness Lodge concierge:
First I'll start by saying that the Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful building. You really do have to stop short and just look UP, when you enter it for the first time. No matter how many pictures you may have seen, or how many times you've watched Samantha Brown walk through it, once you see it for yourself, it's quite a moment
Our limo pulled up to the front door on the morning of July 5th. There had to be about 20 families checking out at that same time. Our limo driver had to pull way past the front doors in order to find a spot to park. He unloaded our luggage for us, and we had to stand there for a few minutes until a bellman from the lodge finally came over to take our luggage. We walked over to the valet desk and I told them we were staying on the concierge floor. She said that we *may* have to check in at the regular desk in the lobby, but she made a call first and then told us that someone would come down for us. A few minutes later a concierge CM named Jack came down and escorted us up to the 7th floor. He was very nice and did a good job, in my opinion, of welcoming us to the Lodge. He brought us upstairs and checked us in. He said our room wasn't quite ready yet (it was about 12:45pm at this point) but that he would be able to give us our requests (inner courtyard, bunk beds) if we wanted to wait a little while. I told him we would definitely wait, especially since we had a PS for Whispering Canyon at 1pm anyway.
We went to Whispering Canyon and had lunch, and by the time we finished our room was ready. We were in room #7043. Anyway, we were in the north wing, and when you looked straight down it overlooked the stream. Looking to my right was a view of the "bear face" and the pool and lake were just to the left. It was a good view, in my opinion.
We loved the Wilderness Lodge, especially late at night when we'd walk downstairs and relax in some of those leather overstuffed chairs, and lean back and have a view of the entire height of the lobby. The sound of the babbling brook completed the feeling of being at a real lodge. A few nights, we were so relaxed that we wished we had our pillows with us; we could've fallen asleep right in that lobby. It just gives you such a comfortable feeling to be there.
On the first evening of the trip we realized that we left DH's insulin at home. Going a week without insulin was not an option so we went down to the concierge desk in search of some help.
