Wilderness Lodge Request question

In all of my previous Disney trips, I have always been satisfied with the "luck of the draw" regarding room assignments, since I was unaware of the ability to fax a room controller. However, I have, thanks to these boards, become aware of one's ability to request certain wings, rooms, views, etc. So, My question: having booked a woods view at the WL for the 1st week of June, should I request a specific location within the resort? If so, where would that locale be? Which rooms are closest to the bus/boat system, and which are closest to the restaurants? Thanks to anyone that can answer any of my questions.

The WL has rooms surrounding the lobby -- 7 stories. I believe these rooms are standard rooms. These rooms can be loud -- echo of lobby and Whispering Canyon Restaurant. The 7th floor is concierge level only with rooms and suites.

There are 2 wings off the lobby -- North and South. There are 6 floors in the wings. The 6th floor balcony is a dormer balcony -- you do not get a view sitting in chair, you need to stand.

North Wing is close to Artist Point Restaurant (dinner only) and Roaring Forks (small food court). The laundry is on 1st floor of wing. The boat transportation dock (MK, CR and FW) is located on North side of WL. The wooded view rooms look at otter pond, woods or even part of MK. The higher your floor the better the view.

South Wing is close to bus transportation, Cubs Den, Gift Shop and Arcade. The new WLV is are next door. Now that the WLV is there many of the old wooded view rooms are courtyard view.

All rooms have either king (very limited #), 2 queen or 1 queen and 1 bunkbed.

Thanks, your post will help. It looks like from what you said, that north wing rooms would be the closest to the boat docks, so I think that is what we will request. Thanks

I thought some of the standard rooms were in the North and South wings not just the Lobby. Do you have any suggestions about what standard room/location to request for those of us with children under 10?

jaygatz, we stayed woods view North Side in #2004 near the stairs and then right out the door to the path to the boat launch since our vacation in March was MK focused. This was also close to the pool as well and the kiddie pool.

Had a great view of woods/trees from the room and was quiet since it was near the end of the hallway - was a bit of a treak back to the restaurants and roaring forks but no big deal for us.

The majority of standard rooms are surrounding the lobby. These have parking lot, roof top or service area views. The wing rooms closest to lobby can be considered standard-- depends on floor.
Some of the South Wing rooms that were standard are now woods or courtyard due to the WLV.

As far as location, do you want to be close to the lobby? Do you want 1st floor w/ a patio rather than a balcony? Keep in mind the top floor rooms all have dormer balconies.

Remember that WL does have some bunkbed rooms. We had one and it worked out very good. It is always very difficult when our 7 and 4 year old DD's have to share a bed and the bunks made it simple. BTW my 7 almost 8 year old is as big as most 10 year olds and she fit easily.
