Wilderness Lodge questions

I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge Villas in January. I just had a couple questions. Can you see MK fireworks from the Wilderness Lodge? I stayed at the Polynesian once and remember that we loved sitting on the beach & watching the fireworks. And...is the electric water parade done year round?

Yes, you can see the MK fireworks from SOME of the rooms at WL, but not many. I am not sure about the Water Pageant, but I know they do it in September and November, those are the two months we go.

Hi!

Your post says that you are staying in the Villas ... is that correct? The DVC villas are actually in a seperate building from the WL, connected by a covered walkway. The villas are oriented so that you really don't get much of a view of the skies over the MK, so you really can't see much of the fireworks. Also, unlike the public areas at the Poly, the ones at WL (shared with the villas) face Bay Lake, not 7 Seas Lagoon, so you can't sit there and see the fireworks, either. However, the grounds are wonderful and there is a beach and nice playground on the BayLake shores so you can sit there and watch the Electric Water Parade. We have also taken the boat from WL to MK and timed it around the fireworks so that we could watch from the boat. Not the same as sitting and enjoying the show, but you still get to see some.

If you go down to the boat dock....you can see the higher fireworks....which is nice....but nowhere near as great as sitting on the Poly beach.

The water pageant comes around 9:30 every night.

WL has become our favorite resort for the past 10 stays, kinda hard to see the fireworks but a short boat ride over to the CR and grab a drink and head to the outside stairs on the north end offers some great views. EWP, every night, weather permitting, in a 10-12 night stay we catch is about 4 times, nice little boat light show.

Thanks for the responses! On our last visit, DH & I ate at Whispering Canyon Cafe & really enjoyed it. I was able to see a little of the resort then. I am looking forward to staying there in January. I love the idea of a short boat ride over to MK! (Our last visits we have stayed at SSR & AKV, so it took a little longer to get there!)

Just an FYI, because it is relatively new ...

there is a bus from WL to MK that doesn't stop anywhere else! That's right, about a 5 minute trip from pick-up to drop-off! Now, it is not nearly as fun as the boat, but it is much quicker. Also, when staying in the Villas you are much closer to the bus stop then the boat dock. We usually ended up taking the bus to MK when in a hurry or trying to make a certain time like rope drop or ADRs and then would use the boat for a much calmer, relaxing journey.

I remember when my family and I stayed there we would see the Electrical Water Pageant by the main pool and according to the schedule it goes by there at 9:35 PM.
