Wilderness Lodge Photo Thread- Please feed my addiction!!

Ohhhh, I can't wait to buy into the WL!!! It's all I talk about, I drive my husband crazy! :)

Keep bugging him until you make it happen:rotfl2: We initially bought SSR and tried to get into the WL at the 7 month window.:sad2: This place is popular at the holiday season:cool1: We sold our SSR membership and bought a WL resale and have not looked back. WL is where we want to be.:worship:

We spent a few evening warming by both of these spots for a little while.

They hold their Chamionship (Super Bowl) playoffs at the Disney Sports complex. They are also accompanied by all the cheerleaders also holding their own competitions I believe. For the past two years teams have been kicked out of Disney for unruly behavior (fights) at the All Star Resort. The cheerleaders do not restrict their cheers to the competition either. They go everywhere (parks, Transportation, etc.) in packs with non-stop cheering:eek: Wish you well with your WL Endeavor:cool1:

We broke 1,000 posts on this thread about the WL. The prize goes to kismet1003.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: There are others as crazy as my wife and I:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

I LOVE this view. Good picture and I wish I was there right now. :santa:

I would love to be there for an extended stay. Here is another view from slightly different angle that you see when you exit the elevators.:thumbsup2 The best thing about it is that the largest majority of the time, it truly is that serene and peaceful and you can really kick back in your own little world with few distractions.

Beautiful Pictures! Thanks so much! We'll be checking into the WL on 1/24 for 8 glorious nights!!!!! :)

DizneyNutz,
What kind of camera do you use? Your pics are gorgeous. I am going to get new cameras before our first stay at WL in January. Maybe you can give me some ideas.
Thanks for all the great pics!

Your pictures are beautiful, but they seem abnormally bright to me. The WL isn't that brightly lit even with the naked eye. Do you use a really long exposure, or photoshop them?

You must use some kinda long shutter settings and a tripod, preferably a shutter release also. But I do also adjust them somewhat to lighten the details of the lodge in the entire picture. You are correct, if you were to post a picture taken without using flash taken within the lodge, must of them would be unfavorable and not real pleasant to look at on a computer, while lovely to look at with your naked eye in person. I hope that makes sense. Our eyes see the image oone way while a camera sees and captures it another. I try to find a balance in adjusting the photos, so they look as pleasant on the computer as they did to my naked eye when I shot the photo. Mostly fill lighting is added, like I said to fill in those dark nooks and crannies. Also when shooting in very low (warm) mood lighting you will find that a picture often takes on a grainy hue. That is when you need to use a noise filter to remove that effect from the photo. You made a good observation of the photos however.

A camera that will shoot in Raw Mode and reading the book by Bryan Peterson "Understanding Exposure". Very good reading if you like dabbling in photography.:thumbsup2 That's all I am ( A dabbler). I rarely take any photos at all unless my wife and I go off to somewhere we don't venture often, we go to WDW, or a few of the grandsons. Other than that I am not a photographer at all. But that book really helped me understand a lot and shooting in raw offers you some second chances (some call it a crutch, I call it a saved opportunity) if you find out you need them once you get home.

Is this not more what you SAW when you were there? Although this was the correct exposure for the shot there is a lot of lost detail in the photo. People that don't have a pre-existing memory of the location would not know of the detail unless lightened up a bit:thumbsup2 While it is a better mood setting shot, it is not a very detailed shot and I am trying to display the lodge for anyone who may not have ever experienced it.:cool1:

Another nice view. I visited before in the villas but my first stay will be in March. Have only stayed in a WL room before. I have not been in the villas when the tree is up however. Enjoying all your pictures. :woohoo:
