Hi WL experts. I just booked a solo stay at WL for 9/15 - 9/18. I have enjoyed food and drinks here but this will be my first stay.
I chose this resort because I’m a week long trip with a friend earlier this year we fell in love with the new (to me) outdoor bar. This trip is focused on relaxing (and saying farewell to my beloved illuminations).

Any tips or room requests are welcome!

The Guyser Point Bar is nice. All of the beers were brewed in the Pacific Norhwest. It was nice trying something different and being on the water looking at the Contemporary. We stayed at the Boulder Ridge DVC area and enjoyed it. I never considered it until we were down there visiting family and our flight got cancelled. I called DVC and my wife picked WL out of the list that was available. I would stay there again.

That’s the bar!! It was so wonderful to sit and relax there!
Side note: I’m (finally) in a place to consider dvc and I’m not interested in the new properties. That bar has pushed boulder creek to the top of my interests

Geyser Point is easily one of my favorite places on property, along with the entirety of WL itself! Nature view is definitely the best way to go since the views can be incredible and its much more peaceful on that side of the resort. I'd request the 4th to 5th floor facing the CC Cabins (I've attached a photo of the view from my last stay!) The view was perfect for my morning coffee and breakfast on the balcony, but also provided views of HEA at night! If you can, eating at Whispering Canyon is also very fun. We enjoy breakfast the most there. I'd also say I've never had a long wait for a boat to MK or to the Contemporary, and the busses are very consistent and usually share with the CR as well. Overall, WL is easily one of my top resorts on property. While its location is a tad isolated, it makes up in immersive theming and great service. I think you'll love your stay!

We had what they call a "nature view" room now a couple of years ago and loved it. We were on the 4th floor and were able to see the MNSSHP Fireworks fairly well.

On the map it looks like the bar is located at the villas area? Is that correct? Do they have a place to grab lunch by the pool if your swimming at the main pool?

Geyser point has a bar area/sit down area, as well as a quick service window where you can take food to the pool area. Its located in-between the villas and main hotel. The roaring fork is also very close to the pool area, and I am sure you could get food from there as well and bring it to the pool.

Another vote for Geyser Point - we spent a lot of time there or getting a drink from there (Black Cherry Mule!) and going to sit on the couches by the water. We enjoyed both pools too - very nicely done and landscaped with a bit of shade if you want it. We had to have breakfast at Roaring Forks one morning due to a scheduled tour and it was the only thing open at that time. I thought it was pretty good and we intended to grab something to eat from there on a later day and sit outside but then we found Geyser Point and it never happened. It is closer to the pool.

I also second getting a room on a higher floor. I can't speak to where is best, however, since we booked a Nature view room ourselves with a request for top floor and they ended up putting us in a Courtyard view room. But I think the higher floor is definitely the way to go whether it's nature or courtyard view since you get the best vantage point. I'm now in a bit of a quandry as to whether to book courtyard next time or book nature view; courtyard view was nice but nature view on a high floor might get you decent views of the water. But if you go lower floor, your nature view might be a tree trunk. Not horrible but not much of a view.

The best nature view rooms are in the range of x004-x034 (even numbered rooms only). I my opinion the best views are from the sixth floor (6026-6034). Please note that 6004-6034 all have and "enclosed balcony" which means it has a half wall and not a see through railing.

There is also block of Standard rooms that overlook the service area that I would suggest you avoid, second, third, fourth and fifth floor rooms: X042–X066. They overlook the service area (Fl 2&3) and lower trees (Fl 4-5).

I would suggest that you specifically request the 6th floor, 6042–6066 Standard rooms. Yes they are right above the rooms I suggested that you avoid. The 6th floor is high enough to allow you to see the Castle, top of Space Mountain and or the Contemporary A-Frame in the distance, just don't look down unless you want to see the service area.

ETA: left out Nature view rooms...
