If you have stayed in a room facing the lobby, can you please tell me how you felt about it?

I have heard some say that it is one of the most breathtaking views to walk out to in the morning and I have heard some say the rooms were noisy from all of the coming and going.

Please share your experience with me, please. :)

2 words...LUVVVVVVVV ITTTTTTTT!!!!!! Only had a room like that once, & we now own DVC so we don't stay at the Lodge anymore, but I really miss it.

Another question - are all of the rooms facing the lobby Standard Rooms?

I had one about 8 years ago in a bunk bed room. It was amazing. No noise came into my room. or at least not enough to bother me.

My family was there in Oct '06 and stayed in two lobby facing rooms (5082 and 5085 I *think*). Anyway, my original request was for north wing, 5th floor facing the otter pond and the hotel lost my request. They were going to switch us the next morning but by that point we loved our rooms!!! We were there with a 2 year old and a 4 year old who needed to be in bed by 7:30 or8:00 every night and we had no problem at all with the noise! If we're ever lucky enough to stay at WL again I'll request lobby view. The lobby is so breathtaking and it's really nice to be so close to everything.
BTW, we could see fireworks from the MK every night from our balcony, but during the day the view was pretty ugly (partially obstructed by a roof). Being off the lobby more than made up for it in our family's opinion. Have fun!

I'm the first "no", but I would still stay in one, but if one was offered to me that didn't face the lobby, I think I would take it. One main reason, one minor one. The main reason is the Whispering Canyon. Love the restaurant, but when a bridal party had a late night something or other there, the whooping and hollering lasted well past 10:30, which doesn't sound late, but we had been up since 4 am (arrival day) and we had just come back from MGM and were exhausted.

The minor one was a freak situation, we came back from MK the second night, and found our door ajar. Not wide open, but the bar lock had been set with the door open, and so when mousekeeping left, they forgot and left it open like that. Not cool. I didn't notice if you could see the situation from the lobby, but it made me think about it. Nothing was taken that we could see, but we reported the situation anyway. We explained that we didn't want anyone fired, just that they should be aware in case we noticed missing items later in the trip. The door faced the lobby, and was the first room down a hall, so who knows how many people passed it during the day, and how many chances there were to take something. Anyway, I guess it isn't really good reason not to want a room with such exposure, but I think I would have felt less paranoid after that if my room was down a hall no one could see from anywhere.

That said, the first is my main reason to welcome a non-lobby room, but wouldn't complain too loudly if it was. :goodvibes

We were in the 2nd lobby room on the 5th floor ( to the left of the entrance).

We loved it, Whispering Canyon never kept us from sleeping, and we liked the proximity to the stairs and just looking over the lobby. Our previous stay we were down one of the hallways, on the villa side, and we definitely preferred being over the lobby.

I had a woods view lobby room on the 6th floor in September. I loved walking out and seeing the lobby. The balcony view wasn't all that great because it looked out towards the bus stop and parking lot.

I never noticed any problems with noise from WCC or the lobby.

We stayed directly over the front desk on the 4th floor (across the lobby from WCC). The only time I heard anything from the restaurant was when I was standing at the door with my hand on the doorknob, and that was the point where they were hollering "Cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooome and get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!," which is very loud - barely heard it.

I will say our balcony view was not the greatest - standard view, mostly of a roof peak, but it was very peaceful when I went out there with my morning coffee before the rest of the gang was stirring.

Another great thing about our room was that it was around the corner from the elevator, so getting about with DS's stroller and DD's pushchair was a breeze.

DH, who usually doesn't care where he puts his head down at night has decided (without any pressure from me, honest) that our next trip with his parents has to be at the Wilderness Lodge

I sounds like the same view I had only I was two floors higher so I got charged for a woods view. I admit it was peaceful when I went out on the balcony to drink my coffee. Maybe next time we'll get lucky and get a MK or lake view.

Cool - thank you for all of the feedback! I am so excited about staying there. I am scared that I am going to become a WL or Deluxe snob and never want to go back to the beautiful POFQ or CSR again! ;)

Question about the lobby rooms. Does that mean that your balcony is inside facing the lobby? i.e. you don't get to sit outside???

I have a problem with that, I really need to be able to step outside. So a room with an outdoor balcony, a walk out to the outside (like the moderates)or patio is a must. I'm not really obsessive about it, but I really like to step outside quickly. I know that sounds weird, but we all have our little idiosyncracies (sp?) dont we.

Nope it means that there is a normal balcony that goes outside but the interior door opens up to the lobby. So when you step out into the interior hallway you have a hallway with a railing that overlooks the lobby.

We stayed in 4094 right above the check in desk a few weeks ago. LOVED IT!!!!!    Our exterior view was not great, but we loved sitting in the rockers at our interior balcony overlooking that majestic lobby. Loved it. There are also smaller seating areas at the end of the corridor with fireplaces and couches and chairs. The noise was not a problem for us at all. I occasionally herd a loud "holler" from WCC, but nothing to bother us at all. I would love to request a room at that location again.

Oh i'd love to be able to have a lobby room but we booked a courtyard bunk. Do you guys know if any rooms look out into the courtyard/pool area?

1) If the lobby is noisy (eg. Whispering Canyon), you can hear some of it.
2) Otherwise, it is not noisy.
3) I LOVE THE LOBBY ROOMS.
4) I think you will also.

I'd also love to know what room category "lobby" rooms are -- standard? Woodsview? TIA! :)

Yup, you were right upstairs from us :)

I enjoyed being so close the elevators, but wonder if a room closer to Roaring Forks might not be better for us next time as it would also be closer to the pool and the dock. I'd hate to give up that lobby view, though for a dark hallway.

Most people seem to gravitate to a FAVORITE and still love others. If you are already concerned that it may keep you away from the others you mentioned, you will probably find your way back there I feel, because you seem to love those. Disney does a wonderful job of offering different themes and I personally feel that your favorite may switch back and forth depending on the season you visit, because they are ALL different at certain times of the year. I Do think you will find WL very high on your list:thumbsup2
