Just back from the WL....loved almost every thing about it. The transportation was wonderful. I will NEVER stay anywhere else!!

The only part I was really unhappy with is Roaring Forks! I mean, come on people.....this is a huge place and they have one little counter service and the choices were so limited. We have stayed at POP three times, the food court was great. Lots of choices for the dd's. Glad we only at breakfast at Roaring forks.

We are not big on the dining options, so this really is not a concern of ours. We just love the ambiance of the resort and everything it offers us. We do always have a vehicle at our pleasure, so we get supplies for our stay as needed, ie: drinks in room, snacks, etc. so we don't necesarilly depend on what the resort provides entirely. We have ventured offsite and found the super wal mart.:thumbsup2 We do dine there but on our terms.:thumbsup2

WL is # 1 with me.
But I totally agree with you about Roaring Forks.
POP and our other favorite CB have much better food courts.

Maybe it's a deluxe thing...when we stayed at the Grand Floridian last year, we were really disappointed with the food court.

DS8 was disappointed in the arcade...that's always a HUGE part of his Disney trips. He's already started earning money for our Feb. trip. We're staying at POP, so he should be happier with the arcade there!

We've never stayed at WL, considered it, but always end up at the CBR (but this next year we're doing the Poly!) :cool1: I'd love to try it sometime, so glad to hear you had a great stay there. :thumbsup2 I've walked around many times at the WL and actually had a sandwich at Roaring Forks once... it did seem small. Is it just rediculously overcrowded?

I am glad you had a great time. I can't wait to get there this will be our first time staying at the lodge. As far as eating we will only be eating breakfast if that there. We have a ADR for Wishering Canyon and the rest of the time we will be in the parks or somewhere else.

We love WL too, and our only criticism is of Roaring Fork. Not so much the offerings, but the set up. There is no place to wait in line to pay without bumping into people milling around the food area picking up their food. And 2 cashier stations for a resort of that size is a joke!

glad you had such a great time. look forward to staying there next april. What type of room did you have?

I'm glad to hear that you had a great stay at the WL. It is my family's favorite resort. My DS's loved rubbing the bear's nose and they did it several times a day. The only way I would stay any where else is if I could have a MK view at the Poly or GF.

I think it's a deluxe "thing". CR & AKL both have limited food court choices, too. I guess they want you to eat at the full serv resturants. But unless you've an ADR, the full serv resturants are usually booked. :sad2:

Yes it is a deluxe thing. The dining draw is that they have many TS options not food courts. It's actually the reason we like the deluxes (don't care for food courts.) So unfortunately they are not the places to stay if you want a food court.
WL is our one of our favorite resorts. We bounce back between them and the Beach club. Which doesn't have a food court either.

Glad you had a great vacation.

So glad you enjoyed our favorite resort, too!

I would agree about RF in that the layout is not terribly improved since they re-did it a couple of years ago, and the choices, while not as extensive at we enjoyed at POR, is fine, but still lacking.

I will say, tho, that the CM's at RF were all awesome and accomodating with any special requests an offerings. We had no problem - it a small thing in the overall picture and we'll be back in January!!!

We're staying at the Lodge for the 1st time in just 16 days! can't wait. We've always wanted to stay there. My only concern is, from what 've read here and in books, once you stay there, you have little interest in staying anywhere else. We're booked for the Poly next July and wanted to try AKL after that. My fear is, we'll never get there.;)

We stayed in a woods view room, 2004, two queen beds looking towards MK. Since we were on the second floor, we only saw a glimpse of the fireworks. We were right next to the stairs. That didn't bother us...no noise that I heard. We were so tired that we wouldn't have heard anything anyway!!

My family and I loved the lodge this first time we stayed there over Christmas in '05. We are staying there again in 2 months  . Roarin' Fork was not overly crowded except in the mornings, even then we always found a table to eat at. A few times we stopped at the end of a long day and it was not crowded at all. The choices were not as good at the end of the day but they did have sandwiches, pizza, fresh fruit and desserts. Have a great time there!

That is so funny that you say this because this is exactly what happened to us!!! I have wanted to try other resorts but my husband and kids dont want to stay anywhere else. I even got dh to try CR once and he said the only place he wants to stay at Disney is the Wilderness Lodge. It really is a wonderful place to stay.:woohoo:

Glad you had a great vacation.

But at least the BC has Hurricane Hannahs, Beaches n Creme and the Yachtman's Galley (which you can usually just walk in to) as other dining choices.

WL has the "food court" and Whispering Canyon that takes an Act of Congress to get in if you don't have an ADR. I wish they would give priorty to WL guest who just want to dine there last minute.

We had a rainy/tropical storm day one day at the WL and while it was great to just hang in the lobby all day, we couldn't eat anywhere but Roarin Fork and with everyone kinda trapped in the lodge, needless to say, it wasn't a pleasant experience trying to get dinner.

Other than the food options, we just LOVE LOVE LOVE WL. :goodvibes

Glad you had a great time. WL is on our short list for next October. I haven't decided yet between WL, BWI or a return trip to AKL.

I'm sure I'll be creating a thread in the next few months! :cool1:

We're looking forward to our stay there in January. We planned on taking cereal for the kids to eat in the room and grabbing breakfast for DH and I on the go - rather than braving Roaring Forks at breakfast. We might get refillable mugs though for coffee and the like.

Thanks for you endorsement. :) I don't think I've read a negative review of WL yet.
