Starting Sunday, November 14th (no posted end date), Disney Transport will be testing out a new route for the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.

Currently, there is a bus from the Transportation & Ticket Center to Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness. As of Sunday, this bus will no longer exist.

Instead, there will be DIRECT BUS SERVICE from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom.

The Fort Wilderness "Orange" bus that would previously head to Wilderness Lodge and onto the Transportation & Ticket Center will now only head to the Wilderness Lodge.

Guests who wish to go to either of these resorts will need to use the Magic Kingdom as thier transfer point.

After the Magic Kingdom clears for the night, the original route will resume.

BOAT SERVICE WILL NOT CHANGE.

And most importantly, as of Sunday, THERE WILL BE NO DISNEY RESORT BUSES OF ANY KIND AT THE TRANSPORTATION & TICKET CENTER.

While I'm sure it will be great for WL to have a direct bus, I'm going to miss that bus. We enjoyed using it to get quickly to Hoop Dee Doo from the Polynesian.

When you say after MK clears, the route will resume, do you mean at that time of night there will be a bus from FW and WL to the TTC?

If not, what happens to people who have parked at the TTC before going to the MK and then the Hoop.

Will there be any type of Bus service from Ft. Wilderness to Magic Kingdom??

Or is the boat the only option??

How will it be handled when the Ft. Wilderness docks can't accomodate ECVs?

Thanks,

Carol

I like the option of the bus to MK, taking the boat after MVMCP was rather chilly.
We are planning on having dinner at the WL this year before going to the MK for the party, I was worried about taking the boat as my 74 year old mother will be with me. Now we will just take the bus back to the MK

Guests wishing to take the bus to the Magic Kingdom from Fort Wilderness can take the bus to the Wilderness Lodge, and then transfer to the bus to the Magic Kingdom from there.

I understand how this might be a pain for those travelling with ECVs, especially with the low water levels. I will mention it to my management... seeing as this is a test, all items are subject to change.

Bus service direct to MK from WL is a huge improvement. Boats are fun, but as I have complained enough on their shortcomings I won't dwell on that here. This should be especially good news after Wishes. If the boats are backed up, at least there is another way from MK to WL & FWL. Hopefully the new bus route will still be running when we stay at WL in early Dec.

Hey Tyler!

Thanks for the heads up! I do have one question about the absence of Disney busses from the TTC. The last time I wanted to go from the MK to MGM, I had to pick up a bus at the TTC after transferring from the monorail. Where will I pick up a ride to MGM from the MK now that the TTC is not being used?

Thanks

Jon

Park to Park transportation for the Magic Kingdom will still remain at the Magic Kingdom parking lot (aka, TTC)

What time will the buses from the WL to the MK start running? Getting to an 8:00 CRT PS is a challenge using the boats, so if the buses start running earlier than the boats it may be a good option. Other than that I find boats much more interesting than buses......but it's nice to see the service upgraded.

Wow, thanks for the news! Just curious, does anyone remember when it seemed like all the buses went through the Transportation and Ticket Center-that is, before the MK bus depot was built (think it was about 1988)?

Are you saying the Orange bus only routes WL and FW directly? Does it go directly to Hoop Dee Doo? How often does it depart FW in the evening?

Yup, I remember!::yes:: The MK really did seem to be that remote place that Walt intended in those days didn't it? You had to arrive there magically by monorail, ferry or boat.

Although we've never stayed at the CR, I don't think you could walk to the MK in those days either.

The new Orange route will be as follows:

Wilderness Lodge (as "Fort Wilderness")
Settlement Depot (as "Outpost Orange")
600 & 800
900, 1000, & Meadows Complex
1100, 1200, & 1300
Outpost Depot (as "Settlement Orange")
1100, 1200, & 1300
900, 1000, & Meadows Complex
600 & 800
Settlement Depot (as "Wilderness Lodge")
Wilderness Lodge

Settlement Depot is Pioneer Hall, location of the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. Not sure of the new interval, but it will be around every 10-12 minutes, give or take.

Yup. Fondly. WDW was much smaller then; staying at a Disney resort felt like a privilege.

I still have an old bus transportation guide from 1987. The TTC was like WDW's Grand Central Station.

UGGG! I prefer going to the EPCOT monorail at the transportation center rather than taking the bus from FT W.

Tyler, we are going to eat at Trail's End before going over to MVMCP. We are coming from OKW, what would be our fastest way to Trail's End and then again from Trail's End to MVMCP.

We love going over to the FW to eat at Trail's End and have always taken our time leaving FW. This time since we will have to get to MVMCP the fastest way possible will be our best option. Thanks so much for your help!

This will not have changed from before. Take the bus to the Magic Kingdom, and then the boat to Fort Wilderness. Reverse the process to get back.

During the first year of operation (I visited for the first time in May 1973), you could also take a tram from the TTC (in addition to the monorail and boat).
