Does anyone know how construction is going with the new concierge lounge at the Wilderness Lounge? Just wondering if construction was on schedule. I thought they said they would be done bye late June early July. We will be there late June and I was hoping it would be finished. Does anyone know where they are putting it or what it will be like? :flower:

Bump.

We're going July 10th - 17th, any word on when the new lounge will be completed, where it will be, or what we can expect?

Hi-

You've read my mind!!! I have been thinking of posting this question for over a week and now you've done it for me. Let's cross our fingers and hope the construction is ahead of schedule :teeth:

When I was there on Sat I asked this question for a girlfriend of mine.I was at the front desk and they did call someone(IM not sure who) and they informed me they expected it to be completed by the end of June. ;)

I just wanted all of us who love the 7th floor of the WL to get the info.

Thanks.

O.K., here's the latest:

I spoke over the phone with Trish, one of the CMs in the WL Concierge Lounge. She says the new lounge will be directly to your left as you exit the elevator on the concierge floor and that it will be open from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. each day. She says they expect to open the lounge on June 18th, but that it could easily open a week earlier or a week later. That's all I got.

Thanks for the update. I can't wait to be there in exactly 56 days! :sunny:

I will take a lot of pics while I'm there and post them on my web site. :3dglasses

Hey! We'll be boarding the Wonder in 57 days and checking in at the concierge desk in 60! How long will you be at the WL, maybe we'll see you in the lounge!?

ooooh, any idea which direction the lounge will be facing? bay lake or the castle?

You know, I was so busy requesting my bunk beds, Magic Kingdom view room, and priority seatings that it never occurred to me to ask!

Oooh, I hope Trish's info is correct, that would mean that the lounge shoud be finished when we get there on 6/24. Even if it's a week later, we still should be o.k. Can't wait to be arriving at WL in only 45 days. :flower:

It looks like we'll just be missing each other because we'll only be at the WL for a couple of nights, then we're moving over to the Polynesian.

Have a wonderful cruise, nothing tops a Disney cruise!!!!! :boat:

The lounge was scheduled to open on the 18th, and now it's the 24th; anyone just back who can fill us in? Is it open yet, etc?

i'm trying to visualize this but for the life of me i can't picture it..
when you get off the elevator, to your right was that stupid little check in area (really pathetic if you ask me)...
as you get off the elevator, you have to turn left, and then make an immediate right, going past that tiny little food area of the old 'lounge' (not exactly a lounge at all)...

but i don't remember ever looking to the left so i don't know what's there...
i wonder if there were rooms over in that direction....sure....there must be rooms since it's to the left of the lobby area (we were in the VP suite which was to the right)...

so did they take over some rooms and turn it into a lounge?.......oh wait a minute....there were tables on the sort of balcony over the lobby area to the left....
so is it behind that area?...

hmmmm....

i hope someone who goes after it opens posts pictures.....i'm really curious..

the WL is a wonderful place, but the concierge lounge was the worst of all the resorts..

I posted this over on the Wilderness FAQ Thread a few days ago on June 10th.

I'll get to the information related to the news from the Lodge, I did meet-up with Mark Newman the manager of concierge.

#1 The New Concierge Lounge is well under way but not complete...New ECD is July...No Photos because the contractor had left for the day and had locked the area...Marco one of the great CM actually picked the lock on the construction area so we could peek in but the electrical box was also locked so Mark was unable to turn any lights on. We took our tour with a few flashlights.

The new lounge “The Old Faithful Club Room” (concierge as we have known in the pass is being changed to the industries new “Club Level”) Concierge services for the resort per say will be handled by Guest Services.

The new Club Lounge will have two entries one to the left of the main elevators, the other entry is located off the main lobby area. A new reception podium will be installed along with new hardwood flooring as you exit the elevators. This will give the guest more of a formal reception area. The new lounge is being construction in an area previously unused. (Dead Zone) NO rooms or suites have been removed or changed (The Honeymoon Suite located closest to the elevators on the Southside of the Lodge has been taken out of service as well as two rooms under the new lounge area on the sixth floor due to the noise concerns)

As you walk into the new lounge there will be a wall of cabinets on the west wall with built in coffee machines and beautiful granite countertops that will extend up the wall as a backsplash, the flooring will be a natural stone and cut timbers are being installed on the ceilings as I type…thus the delay with the opening of the lounge…the timbers can’t be cut on the 7th floor, they had a make-shift work area located out in the CM’s parking lot, then the rain started and it was been raining here in Florida for the last few weeks. Mark said they where trying to come up with a covered area so the work can continue without interruption, hopefully it has now been accomplished and the timber cutting and fitting is being completed.

On the south side of the lobby balcony there will be a new area for children, a mini lounge area with miniature furniture and a plasma flat screen TV. (Disney Channel) On the north side of the lobby will be the new adult area with an adult setting area with an additional larger Plasma Flat Screen TV. (news or weather channel) New tables and chairs will be placed around the balcony so guest will still have the beautiful view to over look the main lobby.. Every morning a few guest will now have the best view on property as Mark as ordered new tables to be placed where the buffet sideboard is now.

Mark is hoping for a completion of the renovations by July, but due to unforeseen delays he can’t give an exact date. It will be worth the wait. Think of natural elements used where ever possible timbers, granite, stone and hardwood flooring.

Now for other news… Starting in January 2006 the Lodge will start undergoing a complete renovation of all soft ware items. Mark said they would start on the 7th floor with new bedding, carpeting, and wallpaper. The Club Level rooms will have upgraded items similar to the style of the Lodge now but a little nicer then the other Lodge rooms.

Mark wasn’t sure if the new items will be a totally new design, as they want to keep the look and feel of the Lodge. We will have to wait and see.

Also by August, the Wilderness Lodge will be completely upgraded to high speed internet access. All Disney Resorts should receive this upgrade by the end of the year.

The next year will be a busy one at the Lodge can’t wait until my next visit, be sure that all of you keep us posted on your upcoming visits.

Hope this helps.

that certainly sounds wonderful...
the lounge and reception as they were up to now were really quite awful and not at all worth the extra money...

And it's great to hear they're going to refurbish the rooms as well..
we stayed in the VP suite....i think it's called yosemite.....an amazing view and room, but really really really long in the tooth.....definitely due for an overhaul...
