Wilderness Lodge - 4 months out?

Hi

Just wondering how hard it will be to get a booking in January for end of April - 4 days at Wilderness Lodge & 5 nights at Saratoga Springs (studios at both).

You should be OK for Saratoga but I think you may find it harder to get what you want at Wilderness Lodge Villas.

I just made a reservation a few days ago for 10th-18th April in a 2-bed at VWL. I wanted 19th-24th but it wasn't available. I know that's for a 2-bed and not a studio but she did say availbility wasn't great for April.

It'd probably be 21st - 25th we'd want, so its not looking good, and there seems to be a lot less studios than one bedrooms. As we are going to have to rent points I want to get the flights first to make sure of our dates. Oh dear! And I thought the send of April would've been quiet! Can you rent Fort Wilderness with DVC points?

The FW Cabins are part of the Disney Collection. You would need to call MS to get the 2008 points charts for it. If you want it, MS would transfer your vacation points to reservation points to make the reservation with a $95 fee for 2008. You cannot transfer reservation points back to vacation points so beware that if you need to cancel, then you would need to use those points as reservation points.

It looks like the OP is not a member. Getting a member to go through all that is not at all likely. Besides, doing Ft Wilderness on cash is probably more cost effective than renting points.

Note to the OP: Renting points at only 4 months out is almost always an iffy proposition unless it is a VERY quiet time of year. DVC stays pretty full all year and all members can reserve at any DVC resort at 7 months out. At 4 months the availabilty would be there, but probably hit and miss and requiring a bit of flexibility in resort choice and dates - not a good thing if you've already gotten airline tickets and want a particular resort. Not impossible, but iffy most of the year, impossible at others. I would make a backup plan on cash and then look for points or an already confirmed reservation that a member cannot use.

No I dont own and I will need to rent. Going to book a cash reservation direct with Disney in the meantime at Wilderness Lodge, and hopefully I should be ok with Saratoga with DVC points. I will check for DVC points/availability in January when I book my flight.
