Hey guys, I have another question. My wife was talking to a friend of hers and he told her we made a HUGE mistake booking a cruise past September because the seas are too rough. Have you guys heard of this? The TA that booked us is a friend of ours and didn't mention anything about it so I was wondering if you guys have experienced rough seas past Sept. Not that it really matters, just more Bonine!
Steve
Steve, I have found this to be untrue. Our first cruise was at the same time in 2004. The "worst" seas we had were 4-6 swells. You can't even feel those on the ship. DW is extremely prone to sea sickness, so I assure you that we would not be doing this again if we thought it would be rough. :thumbsup2

We had a rough first night on the ship last year over thanksgiving, but we were going through a gulf stream and the left overs from Gamma. But at about midnight that evening we were back to normal. We had big waves in Cayman (which kept us from going ashore), but we couldn't feel a thing on the boat.

One of the greatest things about being on the cruise is having sea legs when you get off the boat. It makes taking a shower interesting, when you close your eyes you sway back and forth for quite a while after you get off the ship.

Have Fun Lampy. Drive it like you stole it. (thanks Ricky Bobby)

Hey Steve....I'll just verify what Tonya and Bob said. Woo and I went on the Thanksgiving cruise on the Wonder last year... I'm prone to motion sickness. The first night we were standing at the top of the stairs before dinner and could see people shifting from side to side...it was almost undetectable but I did feel a little bit ill. I took a dramamine and was fine an hour later. The last night coming into port was choppy too but again, it wasn't bad. One of those strange lil "not often spoke allowed" facts that some of you repeaters may agree with is when you're in the bathroom...not the shower part...you can feel the motion of the sea. Interesting but really not a problem. No worries....we'll all do just fine.

Happy 3 months out everyone...and tgif!~
Bob....gimme a PM on our lil venture...I'd like to know your thoughts on all this....or email if ya wanna.
Bill

HI All!

Welcome Carrie and family  We are travelling with our DS who will be almost 5 when we cruise. Looks like there are a few around his age, so hopefully he will find some pals to hang with.

Pretty cloudy rainy day here. Just waiting til 5pm to go home :thumbsup2 Nothing too exciting planned this weekend. I am still recovering from last weekend I think.

I need to get going on things to wear too. I think I might just go with the rental tux - it's so easy. I think I have enough stuff in my closet to do formal and semi. Definately semi - I need to think a bit more about formal. If DH and DS wear tuxs I really need to be in a pretty formal dress too I think. We are also still debating the pirate outfit. At least there is still some time, but it definately is getting closer!

Gotta run - talk to you later.

Bill, you have an e-mail from me. But, I also have one question....Are you adding one "character" to your dance line in your signature every day? Looking at your sig line is like looking at the Rockettes, except not quite as attractive! :rotfl:

We sailed this same time two years ago and it was pretty smooth and placid, except for a little choppy coming back across the gulf stream.

Hi Everyone!

Just called Happy Limo to arrange my transfers...the girl couldn't have been nicer. We are using our DVC the night before and the night after the cruise but we don't want to rely on Disney transportation. I've heard some horror stories of people being forgotten (close friend of mine), to taking 2 hrs to get to your resort. No thanks...we like to maximize our time :woohoo:

We are planning on booking Palo brunch for Sunday and dinner for Wednesday (1st choice) or Monday (2nd choice).
We're probably going to book a couples massage also. We had one on our last cruise and it was great - DH was hooked!!!
Excursions are still up in the air right now. DH's friend did the Regatta thing in St. Maarten and said it was awesome...best excursion he's ever done. We are thinking about that one. Other than that we've pretty much done our own thing. I need to do some research today on the excursions. We're pretty clueless - never been to the Eastern Carrib. Anyone have any tips or pointers? On the Western we did Key West and Cozumel on our own and did a mini-submarine in Grand Cayman and then just walked around. We'll probably wind up doing stuff on our own...but I worry that we'll miss out on things.
Have a "Magical" Friday !!! :goodvibes

I like to keep my chorus line active Bob....My turnover rate for employees is pretty high. Whats next, you ask? Hmmmm....have to give it some thought.

You are one SAD puppy! :dog2:

Suave And Debonaire.....thank you, my friend. I already knew that but its nice to have someone confirm it! Good man! :teeth:

Hi Steve,
we have done the Eastern several times and all but once was in the winter months. The only rough seas we had was in March, that was a rocky one with 35 foot swells and 65 MPH crosswinds. For me it was fun!! I love the rocking, but the time of year we are going we shouldnt have any problems.

Kelly,
My DD and her family did the regatta in St.Maartin earlier this month and they too said it was AWESOME!!! :woohoo: It is a good workout, so be prepared to work on that excursion, but it is a lot of fun. Another tip from DD, when the captain tells you to brace your feet on the wooden boards, DO IT!!! Or prepare to be washed overboard!!!

Kathy

 Hello and happy friday fellow nana heads......

Well I would really like to say TGIF but I have to work tomorrow..yuk  even though its only 4 hours. Just being there is a pain. We are finally getting two new employees starting on tuesday.... :cheer2: We have been down 2 people for about 5 weeks and it has been very rough and very busy.

Well nothing happing this weekend...

Hello again and thanks for the warm greeting.

My hubby's interview went pretty well and he has been called back for a second interview next week. :yay:
He has another job which he has been offered, but they are waiting for the position to be funded. The one he is still interviewing for is a much better job, but we aren't sure if they will agree to giving him the vacation time we need. :furious: The also have crappy benefits compared to the first job. Hopefully by the end of the week, something will be finalized. I am so tired of waiting for life to return to normal.

We aren't planning to do any excursions. We would like to just go off the ship for a while on our own. I'm not sure if this is a good plan or not.

I am a bit concerned about my 13 yo dd. She is a bit emotionally immature for her age. I know she isn't going to want to hang around her parents the whole trip, but I worry about her hanging out with 17 and 18 yo olds. Does anyone know if they have any organized activities for the younger teens?

Thanks again.

Carrie
I am really starting to get excited about this trip. I hope I don't have to cancel now.

Carrie,
I have a DS12 and his friend 12 going they have a great 10-12 program and the 13 yo can step down to that program . She is welcome to hang out with our boys they have 2 best friends who are girls that they do alot with them so they would be cool with her hanging out.Plus big bonus they are MEN in training so they are also immature (no offense to the guys we are sailing with I am sure you are very mature and reserved, right Mutt?)

Wendy

Carrie- my DD will be 11 at the time of the cruise and she will be at the kids club also. My kids LOVE it there - they can't wait. The club won't have a problem if you want to register your daughter with the 10-12 yr olds.

Hi Steve: First evening out, you may feel some swaying due to gulf stream. Two years ago, DH and I were on the 9/18/04 Magic and our cruise was cut short by 1/2 day because of Jeanne. We had BIG waves on Wednesday/Thursday, then Friday was so calm. At 2pm Friday, Captain announced that we were heading back to port b/c of Jeanne. DCL, once again, went over and above the call of duty. For those with no car at port, cruisers were bussed to the Swan and Dolphin, complementary lodging/breakfast, free transportation to Orlando airport, plus 50% off next cruise (to be used within 12 months). We ended up in Tampa waiting out the hurricane and returned to Detroit on Monday. BTW, insurance paid our lodging, meals and cab/van fares for those extra days. Of course, DH wanted to go last September and we did. He was assuming that if we got caught up in another hurricane, we'd get another cruise discount. IMO, any week of cruising is better than a week at work!

Kelly: Where are you staying the night before our cruise? We're at SSR the night before.

Carrie: Hope you hear good news soon about DH's job search.

Wendy: Glad your dad is doing well.

Before going to bed early Saturday evening, I will set the alarm for 2:30, so that I can book our ressies. Will post what luck/no luck I have.

Enjoy your weekend!

Jan

Good Saturday Morning to you all,

Jan: Have fun at your GD Baptism!!

Carrie: I hope your husband great the job :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 !!

Wendy: That's great new on your dad   !!

Kathy: You still counting the

Runa00: Did you get my e-mail??

It's going to be a VERY nasty weekend here in NY. Don't have any plans. Going to return a few things at the mall, take Minnie :cat: :cat: to the vet and stop by Blockbuster to get a DVD. Well DS had me and DH up most of the night :surfweb: :surfweb: . Yesterday me and DS visited one of my friends that had an operation on her knee and the receovery isn't going well.
Have a great weekend and talk to you all tomorrow. I will let you know how DH makes out with the ressies!!

tigger- i did get your email, thanks sorry bout not responding!

have a great weekend everyone! dave and i are off to a beer festival so making ressies tonight should be fun! lol

Jan - we are staying at Saratoga Springs also! This will be our 1st time staying there.

I could really use some expert advice regarding excursions on St Thomas/St John. I am more interested in the St. John side of things - i've heard it's beautiful and I don't want to miss it.
The beach excursions seem VERY pricey. Plus I don't want to spend the whole day on an excursion...I'd like to be able to take in some of the island just by foot. Does anyone know about taxis or shuttles that take you to any of the beaches or into town?

We wanted to do the Regatta on St. Maartaen but the kids aren't old enough and we don't feel comfortable disappearing on the kids off the ship for 3 hours on a high seas adventure :)

I read somewhere that it's pretty easy to get a taxi or water shuttle(?) to the beach in St. Maarten if we wanted to do that.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
