Wild rudder incident!

We were eating breakfast at Luminiers, when all of a sudden I couldn't see the water anymore out of the portholes. I grabbed my hot tea as it started to slide towards my daughter. I did get a little nervous when our server started to shake a little, and the other servers were looking like this sort of thing never happens. But it was over in a minute, and I had a wonderful time on the cruise. I am going to try to write a trip report soon.

Evidently, the explanation that the Captain broadcast at about 4:40 p.m. regarding the incident did not go out to all areas of the ship. My husband was at the disembarkation talk in the Walt Disney Theatre and did not hear it there; neither did our assistant server hear it in his cabin.

When we were leaving the ship, one of the officers told the lady in front of us that it happened when they switched from auto pilot to manuel steering pulling into Castaway Cay, the rudder got stuck, but there was no danger of tipping over.

I had such a wonderful time!! We were so fortunate to have met such great people. We especially enjoyed meeting Eisai Babe and her hysterical group. Hopefully they'll let me in Palo again after making such a scene but I don't care cause I don't remember when I laughed so hard.

I can't wait to go again!

It was so much fun meeting you SweetSpot(s)! You were so funny. The guy with the camera was Phil (btw) and the two of you could star in your own comedy routine. I doubt Palo has ever had so much fun going on at a brunch!!

How is your child? Mine is sick now. :( Don't know if he caught it on board or picked it up from the airport, but he's stuffy and nauseated. I hope everyone in your family is better by now.

We can't wait to go again either. Our credit cards are saying nasty things though.

eisai babe.....My guess is he caught it on board b/c now I'm stuffy and nauseated too! Thank heavens the kids are fine. They need to go to school. I can stay home and be stuffy and nauseated and not miss Algebra!

Eisai Babe:
I feel so bad for your son. I hope he is better soon. It seems as if there was something being spread around. Early in the week we got a notice that a child in 5-7s had chicken pox and was quaranteened (poor little kid, I was so upset for the child), and other kids were getting stuffy and nauseated. My DD is still not herself but after spending most of Thursday in bed was able to get up and go to see Disney Dreams and see Castaway Cay. We thought that she was dehydrated but apparently it was a germ of some sort.

I was happy that we were able to turn her sick day into a special day with the help of this board. I took pillowcases to Guest Services earlier in the week for character signatures. Right before the Disney Dreams show I excused myself and snuck up to the room and placed the the pillowcases on the kids pillows and added Cinderella slippers, crown and scepter on my sick DD's pillow. I had never seen Dreams and didn't know about the magical pixie dust or the Fairy Godmother but after finding the surprise my DD was sure that the pixie dust and Cinderella sending her Fairy Godmother to take care of her were responsible for her treasures. I don't think she will ever forget that night and it is no longer just the day she was sick on the ship.

Tell Phil that our next cruise won't be the same if we don't have him to bump into everytime we leave our room. He was right down the hall from us.

my3kids: I hope you are feeling well soon. A cold isn't a souvenier I would be happy to have.

Sweetspot,
I'm glad you got your pillowcases signed, I also took a pair(i sent my husband out on Friday before we left to buy them and he came home with 25.00 pillowcases from Macy's:rolleyes: )I dropped them off at Guest Services to have them signed on Wed, and when we went back to get them on Friday they were no where to be found. They told us they weren't back yet, but on Sat Morning before we left, they finally told us they couldn't find them. We left our name and address so hopefully they will find them and send them out. If we do get them it will make a great stocking stuffer.

My DS is better today (thanks for the concern) but now I have it! I hope we ALL feel better soon. I think DS is loving it because I didn't believe him at first......we moved the day after we got back, and I figured he was just trying to duck carrying stuff. (Bad Mom) ;) Now he knows that I know what he really felt like that day. (Hate when that happens)

Sweet - what a great surprise for your DS. I'm so glad it was only a short illness for her. I would have felt better quickly too if I had found that on my pillow! Someone could have taken a picture of my face. ;)

My3 - sorry you feel bad too. I heard on the news that another cruise line had a virus traveling around. Something like 100 people were taken ill with stomach viruses. At least mine is staying IN my head and not coming out.

Sweet - I'll tell Phil that he is required to travel along on future cruises. Of course, you are too, so I can be properly entertained.
