Has anyone done the Wild Africa Trek recently and think it was worth it? It seems expensive, but my future DH and I want to do something extra when we go four our honeymoon in late Nov/early Dec.

Or are there any other tours anyone thinks would be good to try?

i did it in 2011 and it is fabulous! DO IT!!! keys to the kingdom in MK is good also. the Yuletide is good, but IF you get a CM that really likes to go into detail it can be a little lengthy and borderline boring. i have done it twice and the first time is was great, the second time a little boring. the Magic Behind the Steam Engines at Mk is pretty good; we enjoyed it. And Backstage Safari is worth doing. The segaways at fort wilderness are great! that would be a fun thing to do on a honeymoon. just some ideas to think about.

I dis it this past October with my mom as something special for the 2 of us (my husband, kids, and step-father stayed back at the resort). It was AMAZING! We had great guides. It was a perfect length of time to see a lot of great animals super close (like the rhinos! We were less than 20 feet from a mom and baby) but not so long that we were wiped after. I ended up making a 35 page huge photo book from all the great pictures we got from it. I would TOTALLY do it again.

Me, DH, and my parents did it 2 years ago in February. Really good but there is more "trekking" and "waiting" than animal viewing. The best part was the snack on the plains when a giraffe wandered over to see us. Those eyelashes…

We booked first one of the day when it appeared the animals were up and about, not napping in the heat.

We did it in early December 2013. Loved it and would totally do it again. We spent a lot of time in the truck watching the animals, particularly one giraffe who blocked the track for the trucks going through for Kilimanjaro Safaris while she grazed on the trees. We had a really nice lunch in the middle of the safari (they did a substitution for me because I'm allergic to seafood - the chicken curry was fantastic). We got great photos of us crossing the bridges and some really good ones of the hippos and crocs. I totally recommend it.

What is this & where can I get info? Do you have to be a guest at animal kingdom to do it?

Thanks everyone for the great info. It sounds like its worth it!! I think we are going to do it. Great advice on doing an early tour when the animals are more active and its not as hot!!

disney queen - I'll have to look into those other tours. I think the KTTK one sounds fun, but I think we are only going to have the money to do one special tour this trip. Something to look forward to for the next one. :)

You do have to be a guest at AK for the day to do this (i.e. you need to use a park pass), but you do not have to be a guest at the AK Lodge to participate.

Since I am a newbie on here, I don't have access to post links yet - if someone could reply with the link for the trek on the disney website for chrissyc72 that would be helpful!

Wow! Sounds great!!!!! Just called and got info! We are going to Disney September 10 so it will be hot. I'm guessing a morning tour would be best?

Book at disneyworld.com under the Things to Do tab, tours and experiences. We did this last year and really enjoyed it. It was a great way to spend the morning, and the lunch we were served was excellent. If you love the AK (as we do), it is totally worth it.

It all depends on timing....I did it in February at 830 am and it was myself and my SO on the trek. So it wasn't as rushed, it was really awesome just being the two of us and the guides. Compared to a group of 10 people.

That's great! You will have to let me know how you like it!! I love the AK and this just sounds like such a cool way to experience it.

I hope that happens for us! That would be such a treat for our honeymoon. Although even with 10 people it doesn't sound bad. Do they start the tours earlier if there are EMH?

Also it sounds like everyone really liked the food they served. Is it enough food to actually cover a meal?

Labdogs42 your pictures were awesome. Thanks for sharing! I think I am sold on booking this tour. What time did you go on your tour, it looks like a lot of the animals were active?

I'm also considering booking this tour so appreciate all the comments here.

Labdogs42 - your photos are great - thanks for sharing them. :thumbsup2

Thinking about doing this in December. We love Animal Kingdom! I would have to book the 2:30 time because it's the day we fly in. (It's the last tour. The tour would end after the park closes.) We have been to Animal Kingdom several times, and because of our arrival day, we would probably do Expedition Everest first and then this tour only. Is it worth forfeiting the other things to do at Animal Kingdom if we choose Wild Africa Tour over seeing the rest of the park on our own?

Thanks! It was SUCH an amazing tour. I need to upload the pics our guides took, too. Those are included with the price of the tour as well which is really cool
