wii product registration ?

just bought a wii for Christmas gift. should i register it now or wait until then? if i register it, will they start sending me emails? my kids have access, and i don't want them to see info. from nintendo starting to arrive and spoil the surprise. thanks for any help

I think I registered mine from the wii itself. When I hooked it up and turned it on it detected my wireless network and asked for the password. I put it in and it connected and installed a bunch of updates.
