did you leave it on the whole entire time? or did you turn it off just left plugged in? We have had our wii since it came out and never unplug it except if kids are taking it to grandmas or whatever.

are you sure the ac cord is plugged in in the back? are you using a power strip or extension cord that could be bad? maybe a bad outlet?

if yo ugot for xmas it should still be under warrenty send it back if all else fails, they have a pretty good response time

Unplug the power cord from the wii and from the outlet. Wait 2 minutes and plug it back into the Wii and directly into a wall outlet (not an extension cord or power cord) that should do the trick. Most people don't realize that the power cord actually has a breaker in it that can get tripped for a variety of reasons. Unplugging it for 2 or so minutes resets it. Hope that helps

its been plugged in the entire time but not turned on....so assuming I can get it working is it best to unplug after each use?

No, it should be fine to keep it plugged in all the time. You keep your toaster plugged in when you're not using it, right?

I have been at my sister's house when she unplugs the toaster every time I make a slice for her kids. I tell her that I'll unplug it when we're done, but she is monsterously weird about it for some reason.

I also keep my toaster in a cabinet, so it is unplugged when not in use, but that's because I don't like it on my countertop.

But, I digress.

If unplugging it doesn't work, call Nintendo. They are very quick to get you a postage-paid tag to send the unit back to them and you should have it back within 2 weeks.

I had this problem twice with my DD's Wii. One good thing is that the 1-year warranty starts again when you receive a repaired or replaced Wii. The first time they claim to have repaired it. The second time, they replaced it and we (knock wood) haven't had problems with it since. You can find the number on Nintendo's website.
