So we have finally broken down and decided to purchase a Wii for the family for Christmas. I plan to purchase it at Costco unless I see any fantastic sales in the next couple week. I am looking for game recomendations your family loves...

I have a 14 year old boy and an 11 year old girl. no volence, shooting etc games please. (we have an X-Box 360 and hate the games are mostly fighting game targeted at an older audience) We want family fun....

Thank you....

target has a coupon on wii games right now, $10 off when you buy two

my kids (and dh and I) love wii sports resort, wii fit (and wii fit plus), and the wii sports that comes with the system. wii play fizzled. for christmas they are getting mario kart, toy story mania, madden 10, hannah montana, little petshop, but we haven't tried those out yet. I know mario kart gets huge raves, so hoping it will be a hit. my dh is getting tiger woods golf.

wii is a ton of fun! I'm actually wondering if santa should, um, test a few of the games before christmas....hehehe

Get the Wii Sports Resort (make sure you get the one with TWO Wii motion plus, it's a better bargain). Toy Story Mania is also a good one, but if you want a real game rather than a collection of mini-games, I recommend Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.

We bought Carnival Games. It was fun at first but fizzled after awhile.

Then they had to have Toy Story Mania. Same as CG, it fizzled after awhile.

We got them Guitar Hero World Tour, and they still play that one.

Super Smash Brothers...played for about 3 times.

Mario Kart...they still play that one.

I plan to buy Epic Mickey for next year! :guilty:

My son's (almost 9) favorite games are Pokemon, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers (this one I think is rated T but I haven't found anything objectionable), the Sports game that comes with the Wii, Wii Fit, Backyard Football and some baseball game.

He's asking for Sims Racing but we bought it for the DS since he plays that a lot more.

I just broke down and bought the XBOX360 today. I had to get the limited edition console with 250gb.;)

I have had the Wii since it came out.

Here is the thing with the Wii, you can download games. My sister is a flipping downloading junkie with her Wii. You can get so many more games that are old and fun that way. So make sure you research that as well.:thumbsup2

first, try to get a bundle. (i hear aldis has a good one, all family friendly)
then buy wii play, if it doesn't come with the bundle. it comes with an extra wii mote. that way two people can play at once. (if its in your budget, buy two extras, so you can all play at once too!)
mario kart and toy story mania are both great, family friendly games.

This is exactly what I am looking for... information on what you like and don't like..... YEAH!

We bought Toy Story Mania. Or should I say :santa: did.
It looks like fun.:woohoo:

We just bought Toy Story Midway Mania. It's fun, but the 3-D glasses/effects are quite annoying. At least you can play it just fine without the glasses,...which is what we've been doing. Just wanted to say that so you don't buy that one for the 3-D effects.

DH, DD6 and I have been enjoying Rock Band 2. DH and DD6 trade off on the mic and drums,...I usually do the guitar. I'm hoping they offer songs a little more family friendly, and plan to look into the Beatles Rock Band.

Our Blockbuster had a membership where for $10.00 a week you could rent unlimited games, but one at a time. You could sign up for one week at a time. I think I will do this during Christmas break (if they still offer this), so we have a chance to "test drive" some games.

Lastly, we did buy the Star Wars light saber game, and didn't care for it.

Our favs so far: Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, WiiSports, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing City Folk, and Toy Story Mania.

We have bought several that we ended up reselling to Gamestop.

My kids favorite games are Mario Kart, Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, Wii Play and Mario Party 8. We have about 30 games and these are the ones they play all the time.
