I am thinking about buying the Wii fit, that is if I can find it! Anyway I am wondering what limits the board has, specifically the weight limit. Did anyone that has one start out overweight and did this affect the board?

I found this online - looks like it's 330lbs.
The Wii Fit is AWESOME!!!

Here is an excerpt from an interview with Miyamoto himself as he explains why, and of course I'll put the link in the source.
"The one other point that I probably should explain is that, in Japan, you might notice on the Wii Fit box that the Balance Board is rated to 136 kilograms, or 300 pounds, whereas here in North America if you look at the Wii Fit box it is rated to 330 pounds, which is 150 kilograms. So, looking at the boxes, you would think that the Balance Board was made stronger for here in the United States. In fact, Japan has a law called the law of weights in measures, where scale manufacturers have to submit their products for certification from the government, and the standards that they were using at the time, 300 pounds was the standard for a household scale. So in order for the Balance Board to receive certification from the Japanese government under this weights and measures law, we had to certify it at a level of 300 pounds. Because the United States does not have that law, we’re able to state that it functions at 330 pounds, despite the fact that the boards are exactly the same in the two countries.

Also, because when you’re standing on the Balance Board for some of the activities you don’t quite jump but you squat and exert different amounts of pressure on the Balance Board, the actual physical structure of the board is able to withstand much greater weights of around probably 660 pounds. The weight that it can accurately measure is 330 pounds"

Thanks! I feel better about it now. Now I am off to Target in the am to try to buy one, they are in Sunday's ad.

And allow me to add that Wii Fit is worth every single penny! :thumbsup2 We got one for the first night of Hanukkah and have been on it every day since. For those that dislike exercise, the Wii Fit rocks; you don't even know you are exercising!

:woohoo: <--------------Me hoola hooping. ;)

I thought the one I have played said 350lbs. It will work with higher weight than that (provided that it doesn't break) but another person has to set it for them.

I  the one we got! We've had for 2 days and we've been on it constantly and you really can get a workout - I absolutely addicted to the Aerobics portion of it. My DDs are trying to beat their best scores as I'm typing this :lmao:

We got ourselves a WiiFit for Christmas and love it. You can get a great workout in and it does not even feel like it. So anyone want to share their WiiAge? My age yesterday was 61 and today it came down to a respectable 35 considering I am 38.

Lol, my Wii Fit age is 54 and I'm only 38. I like my Wii Fit, but I'm terrible at it, and keep tripping over my own feet. :lmao:

We got ours for Christmas and love it. :lovestruc My wii fit age is 21 and I'm 29 but it also says I'm obese and my mii plumped up. That was funny. I can't quite get the hang of the step aerobics...those darn mee's waving their arms keep messing me up. :goodvibes

Lol, it did that to my Mii as well. Actually, I've lost 96 lbs in recent months, so I had made my Mii fairly skinny. I was bummed out when the Wii plumped my Mii up. :sad2:

I have a 'round' mii also! :rotfl2: It says I'm overweight. But my family says that I need to start eating more! So who knows! :lmao:

I had my 3year old get on the scale for me and it made my mii really tiny... and then it started to fall down  You should try it... it's really funny when it says your WAY under weight!

My Wii Fit always seems to make a funny noise (like a gasp) when I first step onto it. :lmao: Does it do this to everyone, or is it just trying to tell me I really need to lose the last 30 lbs? :confused3

Yes, mine gasps too. It also told me I was fat, old, uncoordinated, and it gave me a hard time for skipping a day. And I called my trainer a bad name in front of the kids. :rolleyes1

I think I am having a love/hate relationship with it. Right now my only "goal" is that DH, without much effort at all, is in 1st place in every balance game except the ball table, and I just want to beat him.

We've had the Wii Fit since this summer and I love it! For Christmas we got the Outdoor Challenge! WOW that really steps it up for me. It's a lot of fun and I was really sweating and out of breath! I'm hoping to add it in and loose some weight this year!!

We got a Wii for Christmas and are considering the Wii Fit. Has anyone tried the Yoga program yet?

Hi,

We got Wii Fit for Christmas and I have been using the Yoga as well as the other sections for the last three days and enjoy it very much.

Santa brought us a Wii Fit for Christmas. Both my DD and I have done all the available programs. I'm ok at the yoga - balance is not my forte. DD has done well with yoga, although even she struggles with some of the poses. We both enjoy the activities very much.

DD's first Wii Fit age was 31 - she is 18 and in excellent physical shape from running. My age was 40 - younger than me which I found amusing since I'm not in shape at all. Makes me wonder how it computes the Wii Fit age.

I just bought our Wii Fit last night. We got our oldest son a Wii for Christmas and he has been using it constantly... on Christmas he mentioned that he would like to get the Wii Fit. Well I can not tell you how much we all love this!!! My husband who has never played a video game in his life has been using it too!! He is doing the stepping right now how funny that is!!! If you all could only see this!!! He told me it took me $90.00 and 15 years to finally realize he can't dance!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Anyway my son who this was bought for loves it too!!! Our family has spent more time playing together since he got this than we have in awhile... best investment ever!!!

Right now Wii Fit is completely sold out everywhere here! I am thinking that this will be very good for me and maybe get me off my rump to exercise...however, I am dreading finding out my "age"

:rotfl2: I am so glad I'm not the only one. When my DH, who has 16% body fat, steps on the Wii Fit it almost sings with joy. When I get on, it groans in pain. I am waiting for it to say: hey fatty, get moving. ;)
